Good to know the options are there; S-Video looks pretty nice on my TV so I can't complain after using RF for years. Thanks for all the info!

if you do get a scart cable just make sure its properly grounded and shielded or else it makes this horrible audio buzz. I made the mistake of buying a cheap one.

Since the Wii can't actually do VGA, why is it counted on the page?

That's actually a good point. I'll fix that.

Here to say that Component on the GameCube is a real night and day difference from S-Video, and even more so from a standard Composite connection. Clearer, sharper, and well worth it if you can find a decent price on the cable.

I got one for about 30 bucks, then I stumbled upon one for 2 bucks or so at a thrift store. Flipped the second one on eBay and made a reasonable profit, while undercutting all the other people selling one, the cable is definitely worth it for me, but most people might want to just get a Wii and use that component cable, as it's a lot cheaper.

This was my solution. I looked for a reasonably priced GCN component cable for years. When the wii hit fifty dollars, I stopped looking for anything GCN. With the low price of the wii, and the wide availability of wii component cables, what's the point of paying more for a gamecube component cable?

Can you output gameboy games in component via gameboy player + GCN + component cable? Would there even be a difference considering the 240X160 resolution of the GBA?

Yes. That's the system I have set up right now, I just use my Wii for GC/Wii games, and my GC for the Gameboy Player. It's not fullscreen, and it's probably upscaled a lot, but it's the best way to play GB/C/A games on your TV officially.

Yup. The Game Boy Player supports the Progressive Scan mode too. It looks a LOT better. I'm not looking into a Wii anytime soon, I know those component cables are way cheaper. I didn't mind what I spent, because it's just nice to have them if only for a collector's item.

Now a question, I was reading back over the SNES and its RGB capabilities -- a good way to do so would be with a SNES SCART cable and a SCART-to-Component converter box. Both are readily available -- but how would the audio get to the TV? The AV port is going to be taken by the SCART cable and the component cables can only transmit a video signal.
