Best Shmups playable on GBA?

What do you think are the top 5 Shmups playable on the GBA? This means games originally released for NES, Game Boy, GBA, and to a lesser extent, games fully emulatable for TG16 and SMS. I'm looking to get introduced to the genre (well, not introduced...just addicted), and I'd like some good, early stuff to start on.

Iridon 2 was fun. There is a VERY small homebrew scene from japan...if you've got a flash cart you should check it out.

Sigma Star Saga is a great game its very different than your standard shmup good luck finding it though. Gradius Galaxies is pretty good as well. If you have a flash cart don't forget all the great shmups that came out on the NES both in Japan and US.

I guess that's what I'm asking...what NES/GB shmups are worth starting on? I'm a bit of a shmups beginner...I've got Space Invaders Extreme, and I've had a bit of an addiction to 1942 in the past, but I know there's more out there. What should I be focusing my time on?

Summer Carnival 92 Recca and Guardian Legend are both very good.

Gradius Galaxies is quite nice. Go for it.

Sigma Star Saga is OK. Be warned, the shmup levels are extremely basic and dull.

I don't think we've listed more than 10 GBA SHMUPs here. May as well list the rest of them and call it a day, since there doesn't seem to be much more than what we have down. No reason to limit it to five.
