Model 2 64 pin mod chip help

Post by Gwb »

Hello all,

I received my mod chip in the mail today. I installed it using the AB method. I am getting the follow problems:
-When authentic game is in the system on power up, it will go to the "main menu" and will attempt to play audio. I have to open the close the door once or twice for the Saturn to recognize the disc as a game, then it will boot when I click "start application" and it will play normally.
-The system will not play backups. It reads them as audio CDs. I have the following programs; CloneCD, Alcohol 120%, ImgBurn, CDRWin (trial 1x write) and Nero 8 with burning ROM. I have tried to follow guides but I cannot get my Saturn to boot the games. I don't know if this is burning error or mod chip error.

Please help a fellow Sega enthusiast out.

Okay guys.

I burned a backup of my NiGHTS sampler with ImgBurn on Sony(lol  ) media with 2x write speed.

I popped the disc into the Saturn and booted it up. It went to the main menu screen and acted like it was an audio CD. I opened then close the drive door and it read it like a game and it worked fine. It does this with both genuine and backups. Is this normal? If not, how can I fix it?

Thanks

did you solder the power wire in? i would assume you did since you're using A+B, but either way, if you can play a backup at all in a 64 pin without having to do the swap trick, you're fortunate. maybe try booting up with the lid open to begin with, might be a little quicker.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Thanks for the reply

Everything was soldered in place. Hehe, yeah I've read that 64 pins are a pita.
