Wii and DS, simply because they were unique and brought unique types of gameplay to the industry. And despite all the crappy shovelware, if you can wade through it there are some great gems on both systems that aren't on PS3, PSP, or XBox 360.

Xbox 360 and PS3, while good system no doubt, just felt too similar to each other, IMO. Always trying to out muscle the other in the graphics department rather than trying to bring something unique to the game.

I would add another year at least. This gen didn't take off till 2008 and nextgen is going to be even more expensive......if it takes off at all that is. I still have my doubts MS and Sony will be able to avoid the same, if not worse fate, than Nintendo with the Wii U.

Probably not even though by the looks of it, it will outlive the Wii PS3 and 360
Fifa '14 is still set to come out of PS2 on the 24th this month, and a store nearby still has a new PS2 slim in stock. When a console sells 150 million it's a little hard to just bury it and move on.

It doesn't even need to sell 0.5 million in Neo Geo's case 8) That's why Commodore 64, Super Famicom (last games were released in 2000), 2600, Master System (in Brazil) and NES got so late releases on them.

Cool story here. In Denver the PS2 hasn't been in any Walmart I've been to since around 2011 or so. When I waltzed into the Walmart here after I moved South, they still have a full stock of Greatest Hits PS2 games and several systems.

PSP would be the only one for me. One of the best handhelds ever imo. A massive library of great games from all over the spectrum, region free, reliable hardware, emulation powerhouse, easy to manipulate, doubles as a media device. It's going to be interesting to see if the Vita is able to live up to and hopefully surpass these points. Many prefer the DS, which I could understand, but I definitely prefer the PSP library and features.

I had a lot of fun with the PS3 library, but I don't think it's going to be something I look at in 15 or 20 years and think "this is one of the best consoles ever". The PS2 is likely going to go on to overshadow it. I do think it has a pretty good selection though. 360 library is very underwhelming. To give credit where credit is due, it does have the awesome shmup selection, but that isn't enough for me to overlook the otherwise almost impressively boring exclusive lineup. Even as a shmup console, I don't think it would be top 5, so that argument doesn't hold much weight anyway. Wii is hard for me to comment on because I'm indifferent to Nintendo titles, but many people seem to think it has a lot of worthy games in that regard.

They are still pretty common in Europe. Specially in developing countries. Sony has pushed the PS2 in the Middle East, South America and many other markets.

My DS will forever be special to me, as I've had some of my most profound gaming experiences on the little handheld. Staying up into the wee hours of the morning to crack a case in Phoenix Wright, playing Harvest Moon DS until the save battery broke, driving myself to madness to beat that last stage of Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! on the highest difficulty setting, having my mind blown that I could actually play online games against other people across the world (On a handheld system, no less), giving myself a serious mental workout trying to beat Professor Layton, and challenging my friend to see who could be the first to get all the stars in Super Mario 64 DS. It's a system full of memories, and the first system to convince me that handhelds were capable of providing similar experiences as home consoles.
