Of course if the PS Vita gets better support it would be a lovely solution, but for about 70€ I can get a free game and a screen for my console and turn it portable, so I think I would still pick the real Vita over this.
Well, it'd be about $100 and come with a DS3 (which retail for $50 on their own). It will have access to digital PSP games, indie games, PS1 classics, digital and physical Vita games, and will be a cheap way to get streaming video services for some people.

I think it's a decent enough idea with the exception of the memory cards. The fact that it doesn't have more internal memory or at least support USB storage is the only flaw in my eyes.
There is a USB input. But no idea if it supports external storage or is just for charging controllers.

I think the $100 price is without a controller.

Memory card thing is probably to simplify switching to a Vita for portable use or something. Though I agree, could at least give the option.

I dunno, I just saw a picture of the Japanese packaging and it includes a controller.

If it comes with a DS3 and the option to use an external USB drive it would be very tempting for me. I guess we will just have to wait and see

The Kotaku article says there are two retail configs, barebones for $99, and with a DS3 for $149.

So we might as well buy the barebones one and then get a DS3 for a discount somewhere else, or use the ones we have.....nice

Nevermind, my bad. Didn't know there were two different packages.

Yep. One negative I noticed is the lack of 1080p output. Says 480p, 720p, 1080i, I believe. Otherwise I could see it as a nice alternative to Roku, Apple TV, etc. And the ability to play PS1, PSP, and Vita games is fantastic. Though obviously certain Vita games wouldn't be compatible because of the way touch works in those games. Some will be easily patched to work on Vita TV.
