His movies suck, but he's still considered a star and continues to pocket super wads of money.
Maybe it's because humor is more funny to a 10 year old. And Im just getting old and crotchety

You aren't old and crotchety, his movies DO suck. But his stardom hasn't faded a bit. Kind of crazy that Jim Carrey stars in shitty movies and Sandler stars and produces his own shitty movies.

It's like some crazy parallel universe where people like Rob Schnider.

Carrey's Yes Man was probably better than any of the recent Sandler movies. Not great but decent and worth a few laughs.

To me at least it is a flip of a coin.

Sandler's schtick is low brow humor with some kind of romantic tie in stuff (hate to end a sentence with a preposition). Carrey's schtick is that Jim Carrey is in the movie. Jim's bag o' funny has been empty for a long, long, long time.

FTFY. The "in" in "tie in" isn't a preposition.

Carrey's not a bad dramatic actor though. Seems like that ship sailed a long time ago unfortunately, but you never know...

He does a different kind of comedy in Yes Man. Less Slapstick. I did like the scene where they bust into singing the Jumper song.

Jim is a great comedic actor, not a bad dramatic actor, but not a good one. Had MAN ON THE MOON taken off, we'd see more of him in serious roles. He's a one trick pony in making money.

Guys like Bruce Willis can do comedy and action due to his polarity...Carrey doesn't have that. No one wants regular Jim, and DICK AND JANE highlighted that.

And honestly, a lot of people just don't feel like acting anymore. For example Fred Savage and Ron Howard were child actors who were more interested in being behind the camera. It seems that anyone in Hollywood who acted in a successful movie and then stops acting is considered washed up, when that really isn't the case. The average joes make fun and say "boy is that guy a loser now" when really, that guy is probably making a far above average salary doing something he loves.
