@ZeroAX

Maybe I am starting to realize this. I am very surprised that some people would even argue that 2D platformers are ok. I think I can't even beat Cool Spot. Sonic is more believable but stuff like Ghosts and Goblins , EarthWorm Jim, Batman and Robin, Castlevania, MegaMan, Contra...I have a hard time believing any one beat those games unless like he played a single game for like 3 hours daily for 6 months straight and he has all the patience in the world.

Actually my arguement that these games were made impossible to beat is that once the switch was made to 3D , suddenly all games were completable including Mario 64, MGS, 007, Crash Bandicoot , some how the difficulty level dropped way down.

Back to topic, 16-bit most famous genres were RPGs (which took a ton of time to complete) , platformers (which are difficult as hell for me), probably shmups(which are equally hard) . Fighters were ok except once you shutdown the console , all your unlocked characters are gone making it pointless kind of? Beat'em ups were probably a trial and error thing its where the more you play the easier it gets except for maybe Battletoads . Thats about it for 16-bit genres I do not recall any other popular ones.

Games were awesome and beautifully designed, but hey were very tough to beat.

The reason 3D platformers are easier is because people have trouble grasping how to properly control 3D movement.....even today.

2D on the other hand allows perfect calculation from the player, so the designers can also demand more from you to beat the stage.

You know I just think you're flat out bad at platformers.

To be fair to him, Castlevania and Contra requier a ton of memorization. Mega Man on the other hand...

My brother can pick up a new MM game and have it beat within two weeks. Sorry man, but I think Apple may be right.

No shame though, I admit there's plenty I suck at myself. I can't beat most point-and-click games, Zeldas, or RPGs without consulting a guide at some point.

Agreed. Nothing wrong with that, but don't slag the games themselves if you're just not that good at them.

The telling sign was with Aladdin. I've only played that game like 3-4 times and I can get very far into it....wait is that Mega Drive or SNES Aladdin? Which one is harder?

I don't know, but I'm terrible at platformers, and even I can get a good chunk of the way through that game on a single attempt. In fact, I should probably get around to playing through some of my Disney platformers. They're quite good.

What do you guys think of the SNES Disney platformers? Aladdin, Jungle Book, Pinocchio, Hook, Mickey Mania, The Magical Quest, and The Great Circus Mystery? And what do you think of them when compared to the Looney Tunes games like Porky's Haunted Holiday, Rabbit Rampage, Los Gatos Bandidos, and The Marvin Missions?
