Oh! Oh! Me! Oh, I do!

Ok, so not really. But if that's the case I also have to learn the old Chinese scripts to enjoy my copies of the Analects and the Tao Te Ching....

I was completely incapable of reading OP's post after "Captain Bebop".

Honestly the godfather of all animes is:

Watch this and you will love anime.

again - say no to dubs!
Aside from the silly localized title, I really enjoyed Samurai X. Just great in every way and seems intended for a more mature audience than the Rurouni Kenshin tv series. I enjoyed the tv series too though, even though it's more kid friendly far. It's got some great storytelling, characters and gives you a little taste of Japanese history. It's also pretty faithful to the manga up to the end of the Kyoto arc. After that, I stopped watching the anime as it got away from the original story. The Kyoto arc of the tv series and Samurai X prequel OAV are just really, really damn good. Kenshin is a wonderful complex character.

It seems that the OP isn't liking the anime we suggested because the thought anime was suppose to be a genre and not a medium of entertainment that happens to come from Japan.

My favorite genres of anime are Action, Sci-Fi and Martial Arts. Same with others, which is why Cowboy Bebop is their thing too.

I've watched tons of anime for a couple episodes, only to decide that it wasn't worth watching. Not a lot of it is - because I like certain genres, not a blanket medium of entertainment. Saying you like anime is akin to saying, "I like live-action Canadian movies!!!"

Anime I preferred in dubs: Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist + Samurai Champloo.

Anime I preferred in subs: Ergo Proxy, Ghost in the Shell + Texhnolyze.

Many viewers who have seen all of these series will note the complexity of the former title's plots and dialogue with the latter titles.

KingMohd: Some people are sub snobs, and some are lazy and/or just prefer to hear their native language(English for most).

My suggestion is to judge each title individually. Some dubs are good, many are not. Eventually you will discern which side of the fence you are on.

I keep calling it captain bebop , for reasons I do not know, seems it works better this way

any how, after i switched on the subtitles with japanese audio...this is what i came to conclusion with:

You can't read the subtitles. The episode just moves too fast to read and watch at the same time.

You can't read the subtitles. The yellow text is unreadable with cartoon background. Maybe this is a cause of the point above.

There is just too much difference between japanese language and english . Its hard to consume both.

I found that the dub is much better.

This might be only for cowboy bebop, though am not sure.

As for fansub...i am watching this on dvd, so i dont see how that can work for me.
