Yeah, I agree - but I've switched my position from one of wanting to "strongly encourage him" and asking my wife to keep her "irrational fears/statistically improbable dangers to herself" to one of "well, she has an increasingly good point" and "there are probably better ways for him to gain football's lessons"

What do you guys think about the new rule on hits?

I think that you knew the risk when you joined the NFL, so why should they be held accountable?

Yeah bad example. Peyton realized how much money he wasn't going to make and decided to keep with it. He was supposed to move on a long time ago.

You should say that the guys who are struggling to make the team, or the punt team... for them it really is a living. They don't get the endorsements and they get the low end of the pay scale. There may be competitiveness in those big name players, but it helps that they are getting that amazing paycheck and endorsement deals.

That is one thing that has really shocked me as a Lions fan. When did Stafford end up being in Pepsi commercials?

It isnt a bad example... He could've retired and lived off money and endorsements. He loves the game and spends more hours putting in work in practice and film than almost anyone else in the league. He is a perfectionist who loves his craft. You have to have a passion for the game to be that dedicated. Save your laughy faces for someone else, you obviously do not really know what you are talking about when it comes to football.

My Dad completely crammed football down my throat. I was utterly forced to participate from age 9 to 18 (as long as I was under the roof). This didn't mean only playing football every year, but also Sundays were completely dedicated to football and doing anything but watching the games was more or less off limits. As a result I slowly became detached from caring about football and now I pretty much have zero interest in it. I used to love NFL football, but I lost interest as I slowly came to resent it. Pretty much classic "football dad". It was very unpleasant. The only lessons I learned were how to tolerate looking at bare dicks, how to deal with being forced to do something, and how to physically hurt people. Also I injured (from sprains to breaks) my ankle about half a dozen times and it works like shit.

Well, not a terribly relevant post (just a bit though), but yeah.

Yep that is an endorsement. So once one starts doing endorsements that means they lack passion and only care about money so which in turn suggests they also gamble?
Got it.

I have quite the sense of humor but was attempting to have atleast a somewhat serious discussion.

Showing a pic that is in line with your prior point isnt obvious ' I am joking now' material. It just seems to try to further your argument. But moving on and back to football discussions...
