Isn't society already crumbling?
I don't care anyway, and I'm sure the kids who ask their mom to buy them toys don't either.

Told somebody I was 23 today.
Does anybody else often forget what their age is?
Birthdays don't really mean much to me anymore, and I will often forget that it's my birthday unless somebody reminds me. For the past few years I seem to "miss it". By the time I finally start remembering that I'm 23, I turn 24.

My rule of thumb is after you are 25 age does not really matter unless you are going into politics. That way you can drink, smoke, vote, and rent a car without the crazy premium. So, yes, I often have to figure out how old I am...

Yes and intentionally.jinx wrote: Does anybody else often forget what their age is?
Anytime someone asks me how old I am, I simply respond with "Enough". My wife and I look a lot younger than we are, especially with my wife.

So I've been strongly considering moving to Austin, TX. I'm currently in Abilene. Never moved out of town before.
I know we have a few Austin area members, does anyone have any useful tips or info for someone wanting to relocate there?
General "moving to another city" stuff would be helpful too.

Austin is a really nice city. The public infrastructures (roads, bridges, etc) all look nice an well-maintained, there's plenty of variety for shopping and eating, and it's centrally located within driving distance of both San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth. I don't know anything about Abilene so I can't tell you how the two compare, but you can certainly do a lot worse in Texas than Austin. *coughSanAntoniocough*AppleQueso wrote:So I've been strongly considering moving to Austin, TX. Abilene is fairly remote, small, and boring. I've been here most of my life, nearly all of my friends here have left, and I really see very little reason to stick around. A larger city in general would provide a lot more opportunity, and Austin appeals to me the most out of all the larger Texas cities.BoringSupreez wrote:Austin is a really nice city. Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I have this kind of realization about a lot of stuff with regularity, but this morning it struck me as very weird that some Aphex Twin stuff is now about 20-25 years old. It is even weirder to think that stuff like "Strangers in the Night" (Sinatra) or "These Boots were Made for Walking" (other Sinatra) or even "Last Train to Clarksville" (Monkees) was itself 25 years old when James was releasing stuff like the "Analogue Bubblebath" EPs.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I think that's what was weird about thinking of AT stuff, because it always seemed very "futuristic" in the early 90s when it was made in a way that most other music of the era didn't. I sometimes have a similar thought about rap or alt rock from the late 80s/early 90s, but that stuff is both more obvious in its historical influences and is more defined as "of its era" than more experimental/electronic stuff. Maybe the absence of lyrics has something to do with it?Luke wrote:ftfydsheinem wrote:I have this kind of realization about a lot of stuff with regularity, but this morning it struck me as very weird that some Aphex Twin stuff is timeless
