I was looking at the same poster the other day!
From what I recall, Drakkhen was also misspelled (no h).
Gadulin became known as GD Leen and was never released in North America.

The GBC game is the proper Lufia III, and I thought it was pretty good. The battle system is similar to Lufia II's but has an interesting wrinkle to let you run a 9-man party. It also has a pretty crazy Ancient Dungeon that can go down to level 200 if you unlock that far.ZeroAX wrote:Sano wrote:I have a Flashcart for my RetroDuo, so I loaded it with an assload of JRPGs that Ive always wanted to play through. wow Lofia II.....my first entry to the amazing world of SNES JRPGs. I should really REALLY try to track down a cartridge of that game. The original too (never beat the first one).
Are the GBA/DS sequels any good?
The GBA game I didn't like much. It doesn't involve the Sinestrals and I found the entire story to be pretty blah.
The DS game is a remake of Lufia II that streamlines the story a fair amount and changes the combat to an action RPG. You only have one character on the screen at a time and can freely switch based on what you're running into (each character has a different field action that can be used for puzzles). I liked it, but if you prefer traditional RPGs you might not like it.

Bombuzal became Kablooey.
I was real excited for Big Run when I saw that in Volume 26; it never made it. Arcade port of Jaleco racing game.

I also loved the Super NES Player's Guide's "Future Games" section. Here's what they decided to feature back in January of 1992 and how the titles appeared:
D-Force
Nosferatu
The Rocketeer
Smart Ball
Super Adventure Island
Super Contra IV
Super E.D.F.
Spanky's Quest
Lemmings
Ultima: The False Prophet
Bulls vs. Lakers and the NBA Playoffs
F1-ROC
NCAA Final Four
PGA Tour Golf
Super Play Action Football
Super Soccer Champ
E.D.F. stands for Earth Defense Force. I don't get how it could've been Contra 4 unless they were counting Operation C? Might be just an editing error there. Lakers obviously got changed to Blazers as per the '92 NBA Finals. NCAA Final Four is actually NCAA Basketball. Also I don't think Ultima came out until two years later.
Kinda interesting how their approach was apparently "Lets pick one game from each of these developers" but for some reason Seta gets two (Nosferatu and F1-ROC) as does EA.

And nah I think I will pass on those other 2.

The EverDrive. I love it, plays any game I've tried so far, including Japanese.Ziggy587 wrote:Eww, a RetroDuo and not a real SNES?Sano wrote:I have a Flashcart for my RetroDuo, so I loaded it with an assload of JRPGs that Ive always wanted to play through. But cool, a flash cart. Which one do you have?

Bombuzal had come out here in the US for PCs well before then too, FWIW. Somehow my Bombuzal/Xenon II PC disk got lost while I was off at school.ExedExes wrote:Bombuzal became Kablooey.

Well, I just ordered Tecmo's Secret of the Stars on eBay. If it works OK, I may try playing it later this month.
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I like the Everdrive products. I have the N64 one, and it's great. I've been wanting to get the Genesis one for a while, but, lack of money.Sano wrote:The EverDrive. The SNES one is just as good, the only downside is the 48Mb max size for a ROM. The Retro Zone and Sd2snes carts have 128Mb, which allows you to run the 96Mb version of Star Ocean. It's just one game, but that's a deal breaker for me. Which sucks because the SNES Everdrive is the cheapest of the three.
Still, I envy you. I have the Super Flash Cart from Tototek. When I got it, it was the only SNES flash cart available. It doesn't use an SD or CF card, games are programmed directly to the cart. It has 64Mb memory for games, and can only hold a max of four games at once. So you can see how this would suck. Basically any time you wanna play a new game you have to reflash the cart. Also, it can only hold one game's SRAM at a time. The good news is that the programmer for the cart allows you to back up the SRAM, so it's not like you loose them. The best part about that is the programmer can read and write SRAM from not only the flash cart but legit carts as well. And also, dump real carts. It needs a parallel port though, so I've been keeping an old computer around with XP on it.
What I'd love to do, if I had the money, is upgrade to the Sd2snes and Retrode. But we're talking like $300 there.
By the way, for any one that hasn't heard of it, the Retrode is a great product.
http://www.retrode.org/
It's a USB interface for Genesis and SNES game carts and controllers. You can use it to play games on an emulator, dump carts, and backup SRAM data. In addition to this, adapters are made that allow you to plug in carts from other consoles. I've been dying to get one so I can ditch my Tototek cart for another and be 100% USB, but yeah, the money.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I don't know about console flash cards.....I mean with emulation for those old consoles being so good, ain't it just easier to buy a USB adaptor for the SNES controller? Of course if I had a flash card I'd use it, but I think they are too expensive to be an impulse buy, and I know myself and I will still want to own the original cartridges of any games I might like
