Star Trek Fans!

Post by Sano »

Hey! All you Star Trek fans out there! Which of the series is your favorite? And maybe say why, if you wanna. Mine is DS9, can't really pick a particular reason why though. Second favorite is TNG. VOY, then ENT. I just can't get into TOS, I don't like any series that is that old though.

Movie wise, First Contact and Nemesis are my favorites in that order for TNG cast. TOS cast, I would have to go with The Voyage home (IV).

TNG, by far. Everything about it is fantastic. Great stories, great characters, great actors, good special effects, and lots of memorable moments.

The original is good, but cheesy at times.

DS9 was too slow moving for me.

Voyager felt like TNG 2.0, which I liked, but not as much as TNG.

And Enterprise was hit or miss. There'd be periods where the show got real dull, but then there's also some damn good episodes.

Fair enough. I will agree with that. But by the 5th season, they finally get with the Dominon War and story development gets faster, same with character development. Basically it gets good when Sisko gets promoted to captain.

Into Darkness was 10x better than his first one.

Even if that were true (and it goes against almost every valued opinion I've read), it would still be pretty horrid.

Am I the only one who garners less enjoyment out of far-future sci-fi that's got terribly dated? I mean sure there are stories set in alternate universes or post-apocalyptic worlds where technological progress drifted into different areas, but with Star Trek it's obviously on a continuum concurrent with our own and a lot of the time you'd find yourself lamenting that the characters were acting so 20th century, especially with the gizmos and apparel.

The Star Trek movies are the most pointless reboots/reworks/rehashes I witnessed in a rather long time. At least I didn't go to theatre for either.

TNG is my favorite too, but it wasn't without its foibles. Tasha's departure, unending holodeck mishaps, and Wesley magic bullets were all problematic at times.
