You're being sarcastic, right?Menegrothx wrote:If he was like Breivik and slaughtered tons of innocent people, I'd agree. I don't see how killing a sicko who engaged in cannibalism and who had plans of torturing you to death in self defence should put you in prison for life. Also the man he killed was a gay communist who belonged to an ethnic minority, so it was totally acceptable anyways.BurningDoom wrote:Varg is a piece of human trash. Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
Varg is discussed because he's an important figure in the scene, and he's important for reasons largely unrelated to his crimes.
As for that rapper thing, I think it's safe to say that those rappers are about as likely to have actually commited the crimes they sing about as your average gore band is to have actually commited theirs
Anyway, I'm pretty sure this exact discussion already happened the last time Varg was brought up, and I don't see much reason to go back over all of it again.

Isn't the term "studio gangster" applied to those who've never commited crimes? Just look at NWA music videos etc. And 50 Cent's marketing gimmick was that he got 9 times or something like that.AppleQueso wrote: As for that rapper thing, I think it's safe to say that those rappers are about as likely to have actually commited the crimes they sing about as your average gore band is to have actually commited theirs
The difference between gore metal and gangsta rap is that gore metal is pure fantasy stuff, often mixed with supernatural or unrealistic elements, where as the lyrical themes of gangsta rap are connected to the real world (shooting cops, selling drugs etc) and given the background and image of many rappers, I'd say they're speaking from experience. Atleast before they get rich that is.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Why not take this nonsense over to the hip hop thread? I'm sure they'll appreciate it.Menegrothx wrote:Isn't the term "studio gangster" applied to those who've never commited crimes? Burzum, Aske, Det som engang var, Hvis lyset tar oss, and Filosofem are five of the best and most important black metal records ever recorded. I can't imagine someone could be into black metal and not dig those at least just a bit.
As for the man himself - yup, he sucks. The drama surrounding him is interesting (to an extent - hence all the conversations), but I don't think any rational person "likes" the man.

Admittedly he did get the maximum sentence the country allows.BurningDoom wrote:Varg is a piece of human trash. I can't believe all the attention the metal scene gives him. He should be in prison for life for the crap he did.
Also, was it ever proven that Euronymous actually planned to torture and kill Varg? I always thought it was a case of Varg's word against Euronymous', and with him being dead and all...

That is awesome! Both bands in the same show will be incredible. I've seen both bands, seperately, and they were the 2 best shows I've ever been too. \m/Xeogred wrote:![]()

Don't really care to see Megadeth live, but Iron Maiden has always put on great shows and it's sure to be a blast.

Saw Kamelot live a few days ago and it was downright amazing to say the least.

Throwing up my horns with Tommy Karevik
My girlfriend also did a bunch of portraits for each member. If anyone wants to see all the pictures/details go to the blog I posted: http://wrath.artsie.me/kamelot-show-a-n ... #more-1406
