Re: Games Beaten 2013
I've found that if you want to view legit non-cheat game runs on YouTube or whatever it's better to search for "longplays." "Speed run" is essentially synonymous with save-states, hacking, whatever... I don't find that kind of thing very interesting.

I don't believe it, unless they're using a Game Genie. Maybe Battle of Olympus, but Dragon Warrior games take far too much grinding to be able to beat in an hour.
You'd be surprised. Some folks just happen to know a game so well they can blaze through it in no time, or understand all the tricks needed to quickly pass through an area or get better equipment.
According to the Speed Demos Archive, the current fastest for Battle of Olympus is 31 minutes, 9 seconds:

A few others that will sicken you:
Final Fantasy VI - 4 hours 48 minutes
Metroid - 15 minutes 36 seconds
Castlevania - 12 minutes 6 seconds
Breath of Fire - 4 hours 35 minutes
Lufia II - 3 hours, 24 minutes
Should probably be noted that these guys do not accept emulated playthroughs. These aren't tool-assisted runs, they are recorded directly from a console.

That's both kind of awesome and kind of sad...

Okay, but you said "less than half an hour."

The Adventures of Bayou Billy in 24:28!
I bet Luke could beat that.
I bet Luke could beat that.
Re: Games Beaten 2013
Wow, that Castlevania speedrun. Genius.

And considering my post, that is why I asked "Huh"? Read.

I could beat it in 23 days and 20 hours!
The difficulty of BB is just dumb. Not only that, but half of everything is luck. Hit detection is luck of the draw.

Hey, if you wanna snipe me over 1 minute 9 seconds, or 28 minutes 51 seconds shorter than your claim, that's cool. The TAC runs for this (using emulators) are down to 10 minutes 40 seconds, though it also manipulates a glitch which causes you to rapidly move backwards.

Or twice as long as you claimed, if you want to look at it that way.
But I was talking more about Dragon Warrior, since I did say this, before you even posted those numbers:
