UMK3 and MKT look like they use the same graphics engine and gameplay mechanics, which is why I was comparing them.
I'm probably used to playing on my PS1 emulator because I did not have a console that could play MK Trilogy. Now I have a Saturn. I guess that's why I am not a fan of the Saturn's look.

Interesting. Did not know that. That may be it. I know Genesis did not have transparency, I guess Saturn did not fix it.
