The CrossPlane-High Definition Wireless Video Controller

Post by hailrazer »

I wanted to share with everyone a project that I have been working on with a fellow modding associate of mine.

It's the CrossPlane :

"The Cross Plane" is the worlds first multi-platform WVI (Wireless Video Interface) gaming controller that brings a new angle into the way we play modern video games. Designed to support gaming platforms like XBox 360, PlayStation 3, OUYA and PC, "The Cross Plane" puts your favorite games from your favorite platforms right to the palm of your hand, all in beautiful Hi-Def quality!

Basically Chris Downing a friend and fellow modder showed me a project he had been working on for over a year. It was a Retro System controller that had a built in screen. He wanted to take it to Kickstarter and wanted to know what I thought of it. I liked it but just thought it needed to be modernized to bring it to the next level where it could succeed.

We then spent the next 4-5 months working on getting a prototype and a plan together. After lot's of hard work we were successful and we have our very first High Definition Wireless Video Gaming Controller, the CrossPlane.

We are live on Kickstarter and we really need the communities help to make it a success. If you like the project help out if you can.

Thanks for the help everyone

That is really cool, but how strict is the line of site requirement?

It won't be. We hope to have 50'-75' or so through up to 2 walls by launch.

I am going to keep an eye on it and spread the word for you.

Seems like a cool idea, I'd enjoy something like that.

I'd change the design though before Nintendo knocks on your door.

Very impressive and a great compatible approach! I'm not a fan of Kickstarters even though it might be the only way to bring a product to Market. If you can avoid the WiiU lookalike hurdle, I think this can really be a great add on universal portable streamer for consoles and PCs. Play the big console game in another room or while laying on the couch.

May not even need Kickstarted, might be able to win support from a major 3rd party game accessory company, hopefully you have it patented already.

From what I see, these features are in the CrossPlane?
1. Bluetooth Controller recognizable by new consoles, cell phones, PC and Mac systems.
2. HDMI input via a wireless HDMI sender, any new console, PC and Mac has wired HDMI output.

I imagine use can expand such as higher end Cell Phones which most already support Bluetooth controllers. The trick will be to pull video from the phones, but then the CrossPlane should be able to control the cell phone game on its screen due to the Blue Tooth interface? A simple bracket can be added if you want to include the cell phone screen.

You got it exactly. If the device has hdmi out it will stream to the CrossPlane. If the device accepts Bluetooth controllers then the Crossplane can control the device.

So how much press have you guys sought out for this? Have you considered shooting messages to Kotaku, RPS, Joystiq, etc?

We've already been picked on on site like "Engadget, The Verge, Polygon, Jace Hall and several other smaller sites. It's been pretty exciting!
