Re: Ebay import charges

I have been shipping internationally for years. In my experience Brazil and Argentina are the worst and I don't ship to either of those countries anymore. Something always happens.

Knock on wood, but I have never had a problem shipping to Europe (even Eastern Europe), Asia, and South American countries other than the ones I mentioned. I've only shipped to Russia and South Africa maybe two or three times, but all went good. I shipped ONCE to Saudi Arabia.

I admit, you are kind of taking a chance by shipping internationally, but for the most part I have no complaints. Everything seems to arrive where they need to. Sometimes it takes a very long time, but it gets there.

eBay's Global Shipping Program

Post by bmoc »

Just a head's up to all the eBay sellers out there. I had previously jumped through all the hoops in eBay's account settings to block international bidders. Apparently eBay automatically enrolls you in the Global Shipping Program which overrules those settings and allows international bidders.

I just had a high dollar item (for me) that was won by an overseas bidder. They declined my request to cancel the transaction and I had to get on the phone with eBay to be credited back the auction fees. It was a pretty big hassle and I hope to spare that to any of you. To see if you were opted in to their Global Shipping Program, go to My Ebay --> Account --> Site Preferences --> Show Shipping Preferences.
