So, after some research, I learned that if you nag Nintendo over the phone they can in fact transfer your NNID to a new console. So looks like I'll have to give that a try.

If they can do that why the fuck is it tied to the console to begin with...........

I have no idea. I mean, I can even log into Miiverse on PC. It's so broken.

As Boring said, so forward thinking and so behind all at the same time with their stuff.

Hopefully that means it's possible that Nintendo can patch that later on down the line.

I'd certainly make a lot more VC purchases and such if I knew I could easily recover my investment if I have to.

Cross buy with 3DS for stuff like NES VC games would be ideal too, but I'm not gonna hold my breath for something like that.

I really miss the days when Nintendo Consoles were powerhouses also.

I'd actually argue that almost every Nintendo system had a big shortcoming in terms of raw power when compared to their competitors. All of their handhelds have been weaker.

You're counting PCs as their competitors, right?

Nintendo's platforms always have very specialized hardware usually revolving around what Nintendo wants to do with their games and not necessarily what is actually more powerful.

Gamecube was the exception it seems. I'm not sure how it stacked up against the Xbox though?

X-box was definitely more powerful, but Gamecube certainly wasn't that far behind.

If we're including the Neo Geo, everyone but SNK was behind for quite a while.
