I buy carts, but always end up playing the roms...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I buy carts, but always end up playing the roms...

Post by Flak Beard »

It's weird. I can't bring myself to play any roms (for more than a few minutes) without owning the cart. Then when I buy the carts, I play the roms instead!

I guess I just like the convenience of having a front-end like Maximus Arcade and a single machine set up, along with being able to collect carts at the same time.

Anyone else have this problem? Is it a waste to not get any use out of the actual cart itself?

Yes, if you're not going to play on the original carts, you're not getting any use out of them.

I do this too, it is not so crazy. Having the carts makes the ownership legitimate and having the roms makes playing them convenient. From a morality standpoint it makes a lot more sense than it first appears.

I don't necessarily feel bad for playing roms or isos of games I don't own. I guess I just feel like any game that is worth playing to me, is worth owning as well.

I play both, but I find myself playing roms more often. But it is more because my genesis and snes/nes are all hooked up in another room and i am in the front room with my computer w/ the family more often. so its more a convenience issue for me.

I've found that as I got a real job, and could afford to purchase all the games I wanted, that I no longer play ROMs, aside from the occational wanting to try before I buy. About the only ROMs that I even touch are fan translations, and I try and play them on hardware whenever possible (flash carts, homebrew Wii).

I'm sure ROMs hate you, too.
