You can beat some of Sim City's scenarios and some versions have a default "victory" condition but that's it.Luke wrote:Can you beat Sim City?
By design it's more of a toy than a game.

It probably didn't or if it did it was probably that tri-fold piece of b&w paper. Gaming companies are getting cheaper and cheaper.Damm64 wrote:Im like almost a year late to the party but... why resident evil 6 dosen't come with a manual ? Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
To be fair, they can explain everything in the game now through tutorials and if need be digital manuals. Considering how hard it is for a lot of new games AAA games to break even I don't think it's surprising in the slightest that a lot of games don't have manuals.
Of course, then somebody will point out to me that The Witcher 2 has an entire quest guide that comes with the physical version, and a poster, and this and that.
So really, some do, some don't these days. I don't really care either way personally.

Older. Not wiser.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I understand what you are saying but how much does it cost to make a manual? Maybe .5 - 1 USD cent when you consider its made in China. Costumer satisfaction for 1 cent sounds like a good deal.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:To be fair, they can explain everything in the game now through tutorials and if need be digital manuals. Good printing isn't cheap, but there's also the matter of producing it in the first place. On top of tutorials, digital manuals, and so on.oxymoron wrote: I understand what you are saying but how much does it cost to make a manual? Maybe .5 - 1 USD cent when you consider its made in China. They might also just look at it like, the people who really care about this can always pony up for the CE.

And that's just great, for us. Not like we're getting charged up the ass already for everything gaming related or anything. Freaking $400 consoles, $40 controllers, XBox Live fees, nickel-and-dime DLC. Now they want to get us on manuals, too.isiolia wrote:They might also just look at it like, the people who really care about this can always pony up for the CE.

Well, as has been discussed before, if you account for inflation, games are actually getting cheaper, relatively speaking. Slimming down the packaging, when so much of the market is going digital anyway and has no packaging anyway, makes sense.BurningDoom wrote: And that's just great, for us. All I mean is that for the people who really wish they had those big boxes packed with maps, thick manuals, and so on...you have CEs. Which are still usually cheaper than games could have inflated to (or actually did in some countries).
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Manuals are like glass bottle sodas, they aren't necessary anymore due to innovation but if I see a can soda and a glass bottle and they are the same price, I will always chose glass because they look and feel nicer. The average Chinese or any 3rd world employee gets payed under 4 -5 cents. They make more expensive and articulate things than a manual (which only requires a printing press) for cheaper. My point is the 1, 2, even 3 cents it costs to make them is worth the costumers satisfaction.isiolia wrote:Good printing isn't cheap, but there's also the matter of producing it in the first place. So I guess TitS wasn't very popular in the States, huh?
I thought it would sell out and the price would inflate. Nope. You can get it new on Amazon for $20. Even the Limited Edition is only $45.
Guess that's why they never localized TitS 2 and TitS 3?...
