anime recommendation request
hello
iif any of you watch anime, i am fairly new to it, actually i almost never saw any
there are lots in a rental store next to me and i am interested. I asked the guy there
to tell me whats popular, he said there is comedy , action, etc and i soon got lost.
i am looking for something for adults, not as in porn, but as in created with adults as a target. I saw street fighter anime long time ago and i really lliked it.
could any one give any input?

I always liked Paranoia Agent, but it's a bit of an aquired taste.

I like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Samurai Champloo. Then you have some super popular ones like Naruto, Pokemon, and Dragon Ball Z. I seen a few episodes of Berserk and it was decent.

Cowboy Bebop is an excellent start for any new anime fan. It's much easier for someone new to anime to get into since it's not as distinctly Japanese as a lot of other anime is and it doesn't seem aimed at kids like a lot of the other more popular anime seems to be. Excellent English dub too, so you don't have to watch it in Japanese with subtitles to enjoy it. It's also a good solid mix of comedy, action, romance(not much, but it's there), etc. The action in particular is nice because of the variety. Gun fights, martial arts, aerial dogfights, it's got it all. One of my faves. I don't watch much anime these days, but I still have fond memories of this series

Not anime, but... anything tokusatsu. TV Nihon is a fansubbing group that has released many gr8 toku series from Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman, among others.

Gotcha covered. Below is a link to an Introduction to Anime post I did on my blog; in the middle of the post there's a big list of animes sorted by genre that are good places for newcomers to start. The post also has other observations and explanations about watching and collecting anime that might be helpful:

So Many...Ghost in the Shell, Claymore, Elfen Lied, Death Note, Naruto, Bleach, Evangellion,Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist are all good places to start - try googling 'anime recommendations database' to find the website of he same name, also, for all you otaku - try loging on and use their tool to work out how long you've spent watching anime - I'm at a month, and that doesn't count watching all of Naruto twice (and reading the manga!)

I recommend Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Berzerk.

I always like to throw in the vote for Berserk, but I always remember that the comic is way better. I can only hope that the show would persuade a person into reading the comic afterward.
