Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
When I was in law school, smart students sought out books that were well-highlighted and had good notes in the margin. They cost significantly less than new books, and the highlighting and the notes would: (1) save you a lot of ink; and (2) give you some clues on the areas of examination. If you were really lucky, you would get a book directly from a more senior student at the top of his or her class.Ack wrote:Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up. You write in the margins of your book? In my experience the best students hang on to their books....
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Funny though, when those notes turn out to be wrong (which does happen). And doing it to library books is a travesty, because then the library has to replace the book, incurring additional fees on already strapped budgets.prfsnl_gmr wrote:When I was in law school, smart students sought out books that were well-highlighted and had good notes in the margin. From time to time I've purchased a book with helpful marginalia or underlying, but they are few and far between.Ack wrote:Funny though, when those notes turn out to be wrong (which does happen). Still, you usually change to past tense when speaking of the dead.dsheinem wrote:Nope, "is" can be correct since I typed it as I was watching (srsly!).o.pwuaioc wrote: *Was.

Law school is expensive enough. Saving on - or recouping the cost of - textbooks that cost more than gaming consoles is key to getting through it on a budget.dsheinem wrote:In my experience the best students hang on to their books....
EDIT: I kept most of my college textbooks, BTW. New copies of those were a bit more reasonably priced, and the subject matter is generally far, far more interesting.
