I keep my PS2, Wii, and Xbox hooked up to my HDCRT via component cables, and all three of them look great on that incredibly heavy, "theft-proof" television.

My PS2 is currently disconnected and in storage.
My Gamecube is hooked up to the CRT via regular RCA cables.

My tests of playing games both ways leave me sitting on the fence on which way is best. The main trade off seems to be the loss of widescreen when playing on a CRT TV. However, the CRT offers, to me, a more nostalgic feel with slightly smoother picture quality. Is there an objective consensus on this subject? Is my component ready PS2 better suited for the CRT game room?
WHERE IS THE VOTE FOR HD CRT?
Some assume CRTs are not available as HD, there should be a separate vote section for it. Also there are HD CRTs that are 4:3 screen, I own two Wegas that are not widescreen purchased because of the older consoles. Every console is hooked up with its best unmodded video lead capability to get the best possible picture.

 Hey a good point, the HD CRT is veeeery heavy!

All consoles are hooked up to a Sony Wega HD 4:3 CRT in the living room. My "backup" Wega HD 4:3 CRT in the bedroom has just the 7800 console attached.

That, plus the fact that only gamers like me want them, guarantees that no one will ever try to steal my fantastic television.

(I have one like, but a little bit bigger and nicer than, this BTW. It is amazing.)

My Xbox and PS2 are hooked up to regular AV on my Flatscreen. The GameCube sits with my original Xbox 360 (RRoD'd) and the Master Chief in Console Valhalla (which is located on the top of our big Book Shelf).

I'll sometimes move the GameCube to the main library when I have guests over. I need to get a security screwdriver and take a look at the inside to see why the controller port isn't working.

Well my PS2 is currently MIA since I have yet to find the damn thing so i'll just go with my PS3 for this...

My PS3/Xbox/GC are all hooked up to a switcher box which is daisy chained to another box which is hooked into my 1995 TV. idk if it's a CRT or not...I'm not that good with TV technical stuff so I couldn't tell you...it's big, old, heavy and is a b*tch most of the time...half the time it feels like it's going to die out on me but it keeps on chugging along.

Right now I can't afford anything better, and I feel an attachment to the old thing...grew up gaming on it and while I sold off my childhood collections back when...I always kept my TV.

Currently...

PS2, XBox, and Gamecube are hooked up to a 27" non-HD CRT (albeit one with component-in). Well, run through a switchbox and AV receiver, then to that, but that's the end result.

For playing at least some of the games, however, I have a backwards compatible PS3 in my computer room hooked up to a Playstation 3D Display, and a 360 and Wii in my living room hooked up to my LCD HDTV (along with my other PS3).

Looking at everyone's replies, it seems I was in the minority keeping my consoles on my HD set. Somehow seeing that most of the community prefers their pre-2006 consoles on the CRT makes me feel better about my decision to move my consoles from the HDTV to the CRT.

This means more room for the soon to be new addition of Xbox One and PS4! The wife will be happy to see a bit less clutter on the main set.
