it looks fake, cuz the slate design is ugly. The clam shell design is genius. 3D is pretty superfluous so 2DS would make sense. But why change the physical design?

It is not supposed to be. They said it is designed so kids under 7 can use it (since 3d is apparently bad for developing eyes. So more of a "Buy a 2ds instead of a Tablet."

Seriously, who drafted the plans for this thing. Mono sound, no 3D....I'm a bit puzzled as to its appeal.

I can kinda see the no 3D and no hinges thing, since it's supposed to be aimed for little kids (they break those DS hinges a LOT), and the mono sound is probably just cutting costs.

Still, the whole thing is kinda baffling. Like if there was an Onion-like site but just for gaming news, "Nintendo announces 2DS" is exactly the sort of story I'd expect to see on it.

People can just plug in their ipod headphones. Remember the GB/GBA/GBASP were mono without headphones.

I mean I get it Hobie, you can plug in headphones and it nulls the issue, hopefully it helps with battery life then too?
