I am not too technical but the smaller case makes sense now. I am not sure what are they using that is originally tablet parts. Is it like the processor such as the on in the iPad?

Kind of. They're using x86 CPUs, so they same processor family that Windows, OS X, and so on are currently built to run on, rather than the ARM architecture that iOS, Android, and basically every other phone/mobile device uses.

There's a very wide range of x86 CPUs, suited for different applications. The family of products that the PS4 and One's CPUs belong to is designed for low power use. Laptops/Ultrabooks, tablets, that kind of thing. That said, they are at the high end of that family of products, where an iPad like device would be at the low end of it. So, don't expect a PS4 tablet or anything.
