Jay_red's collection: Dreamcast Edition!

Post by jay_red »

Recently I got my Dreamcast love rekindled, not that it ever left, but I was not giving my favorite console the love it deserved! I was checking out all of the different controllers I had, and ended up rounding up all of my Dreamcast related items!

First off, controllers! I love finding colors I dont have, though I am getting to the end of US released ones I believe. I might have to take on getting some of those awesome JPN exclusive ones out there (Wood grain, I'm looking at you!)

The first 2 at the top are "Millennium 2000" editions that I happened to find both in the wild, pretty crazy since they are JPN exclusive controllers. The smoke one at the bottom is my go-to controller, it has a double length cord that I spliced together some years ago. The pink Hello Kitty one is my newest edition, and I am so excited to have it along with the console in my collection now!

Light guns, mouse, keyboards (a must for Typing of the Dead!) and a couple of "Total Control" PSX adapters.

I swear I had more memory cards than this! 2 of them are official Sega 4x cards.

While getting these out I remembered I had a huge pack of batteries I got from IKEA a while back, and saw something I have not seen in 10 years:

Sure, it will be dead next week (jk?) but it sure is cool to remember that these were intended to be used like this.

My 2 working consoles with VGA box:

I have a Sega sports shell that I need to find some donor guts to be put inside. I had picked it up at goodwill and noticed it was coated in what seemed to be cooking oil, all in the internals and everything. Stripped it down, washed what i could and had to toss the rest.

Finally, my modest game collection, I used to have a bunch more, but years ago I thought I was not going to be playing any "old" games anymore and traded a bunch of them away for a couple of xbox 360 games. I have spent a lot of time getting back the very games I trades away! The Shenmue II is my 2nd copy, as I had to sell my first once to pay some bills, my Wife says I cannot sell this one.

You have a Hello Kitty one!!!!!!! OMG I WANT!

So cute and pink and ahhhhhhhhhhhh /fangirl

You have way more stuff then I do..it's hard finding Dreamcast stuff where I live. I thought myself lucky when I found the console at Goodwill and it worked. Do you get your stuff off eBay or luck out and find it in thriftstores?

I get my stuff from everywhere, sometimes I score at a thrift store (the sega sports console I mentioned) but craigslist is best for local deals, just keep chekcing and you will come across a deal (both copies of Shenmue II I have owned came from craigslist deals). Last but not least, trades from here are a great way to build the collection!
