Finally got Kit to sit down and watch Godzilla: King of the Monsters! with me. I'm pleasantly surprised that she enjoyed it after a terrible mishap with 2001: A Space Odyssey.
We're going to continue with Godzilla 1985, then go back and watch the older films later on. This is a personal choice, because I feel she'll enjoy the 90's movies more.
Just discovered Godzilla: Battle Legends. How the hell did I never hear about this game!?

Wow, I didn't know there was a Godzilla game for the Turbo-Duo. Apparently, it's the prequel to the Super Famicom game. How come you didn't play this game Angry Video Game Nerd?!jinx wrote:Just discovered Godzilla: Battle Legends. How the hell did I never hear about this game!?

Re: The Giant Thread for Giant Monster Movies
I've been playing it for the past few days and it is hard. The wide-selection of Kaiju is amazing and there are so many things don right. Why aren't there more Godzilla games like this one!?GSZX1337 wrote:Wow, I didn't know there was a Godzilla game for the Turbo-Duo. Apparently, it's the prequel to the Super Famicom game. What makes this game awesome:
Kaiju! Kaiju Everywhere! - This has just about every kaiju you would want to fight/fight as from both the showa and heisei eras. A much better selection than the Super Famicom game "Godzilla:
Kaijuu Daikessen".
Music/Sound: The music is pretty damn awesome and the roars are extremely accurate. My only complaint is they use Godzilla's roar for all the menus and point tally screens. Gets old fast...
Sprites: Godzilla's sprite changes depending on who you are fighting. This is completely freaking awesome and well worth mentioning. Even the look of his attacks change. For example, when fighting Anguirus you'll be the Godzilla from the 1955 film Godzilla Raids Again. You also don't have the blue beam, but the gray "smoke" instead. You can tell a lot of love went into this game.
Just be prepared to get your butt handed to you. I have yet to beat Hedorah on Normal mode. I can't imagine what Hard will be like...
Re: The Giant Thread for Giant Monster Movies
Man, from what you're describing and the footage I've seen I'm thinking the budget for this game must've been huge for the time. Hell, in this video you can see Anguirus and King Ghidorah fighting in the background. A lot of work went into this. I have a mental list of TurboGrafx-16 games that I want to play when I dive into its library. I think I'll be adding Godzilla: Battle Legends to that list.jinx wrote: Music/Sound: The music is pretty damn awesome and the roars are extremely accurate. Re: The Giant Thread for Giant Monster Movies
Blew my mind while I was playing. I freaked out and started yelling at Kit "LOOK! Anguirus and King Gidorah are fighting while I'm fighting Gigan! JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIE!!!". You also get to fight both forms of Biollante and Battra. Pretty kick ass.GSZX1337 wrote:Man, from what you're describing and the footage I've seen I'm thinking the budget for this game must've been huge for the time. What are your earliest memories of Kaiju?
For me, I can remember owning two VHS tapes when I was really little; Godzilla: King of the Monsters! and Rodan. Originally, Rodan was my favorite as it had more action in it (and giant bugs!).
These were the cassettes I remember having:

Somehow, over the years, I came into possession of at least 5 different copies of Godzilla King of the Monsters. I also had so many Godzilla vs Megalon's I could start a bon-fire with them and not even care. My favorite Kaiju were Mechagodzilla, Anguirus, King Ghidorah and Gigan. Which made this box-set my favorite, and most watched:

Toho Kingdom? Is that a new series we should be aware of?
or does somebody need to host their own images instead of hotlinking

Fixed.
Re: The Giant Thread for Giant Monster Movies
Has anyone seen this eBay listing? It's a listing for a Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster DVD. Thing is, I've never seen this DVD before. It uses different box art than the one that I've seen. Also, there aren't any images of the other DVD releases on TohoKingdom. This guy also seems to have 44 copies of this movie. I'm thinking this is a bootleg, but I just thought I'd ask here just to be sure.

I've never seen that cover before, and as far as I know, I've seen all the Region 1, 2, and 4 releases.GSZX1337 wrote:Has anyone seen this eBay listing? This is region 4 (also possible it's a bootleg) Region 2 is similar:
Some of the eBay feedback claims bootlegs. I'm going to go ahead and agree with them, but I would ask the TohoKingdom forums to be sure.

Region 0 and punching the UPC into Google does not locate a product. Bootleg.GSZX1337 wrote:Has anyone seen this eBay listing? It's a listing for a Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster DVD. The UK has a weirdly high number of bootlegs. Movies, GB games, and discs of emulators full of ROMs for PCs.
