Everyone is ribbing extra hard because as pointed out, Mas has been making these "what should I sell to make a bill", "what should I buy", and "what should I buy for my kids" threads every few months for some time now. People give advice, the thread dies, then right back again with the same a short time later.

Over a month ago I needed help. I was upset and down at the way my life was. Depressed was more like it. Wrote this post and for a lot of people that I read were harsh and for people who haven't been on racketboy for a long time was kind of giving me a break but like hobbie said I was always doing the same thing over and over and over then I would ask if I should sell or keep. My wife saw a message that one of you guys sent and we had a long talk. I felt a lot better after that and most of you guys were right. I wrote about the same stuff 85% of the time.
I just came on to tell everyone and I wanted to first say thanks to everyone who wrote on this post. It gave me a wake up call. I first got rid of everything I wont play anymore. I made a promise to my wife If I sell I would never get it back. I stayed away from retro game stores, flea markets, and gamestops. I sold my nes collection and my sms collection. All the money took my family on a nice vacation for a week. I downsized all my psp and ps2 to only games that I will really play. I packaged the psp,and ps2 away and just have my dreamcast and wii out.
I haven't bought a game in since july and I feel good. Love my life, job, kids, and I went back to martial arts more and I have been back at the gym.
I forgot I found my 64 in the closet but I sold all my games except the only 4 games I know I will play which is the wcw/wwf aki wrestling games.
I REALLY FEEL GREAT AND THANKS FOR EVERYTHING. I must say even though the wii for a lot of people is a blah system it has a lot of great titles. I would buy Metroid prime trilogy but I think 90.00 for a rerelease from gamestop is a little to much. Plus I'm not a collector anymore and I own Metroid prime 3.
So thank you again and now my life as a casual gamer and not a collector begins.
P.S. should I sell my dreamcast or wii? Or which is better, The dreamcast or colecovision?....... Just kidding

I'd look into your audio video setup, if you haven't already.
Might revitalize interest in some of the games when their play experience is improved.

I have maybe 20-ish physical games in my collection now. Feels good. My digital collection is ever expanding, but I feel like I am definitely spending a lot less. Not buying expensive games on forums/eBay and collecting retro games that I MIGHT play in a few years is saving me a lot.

dsheinem wrote: That's not fair. Traveling, getting into bikes or cars, working on a house - these hobbies can be just as interesting and rewarding as playing or collecting video games.
If you have kids, you aren't be able to do any interesting traveling, I can see the fun in tuning cars and driving fast/racing on a track/offroading but I don't see the two as compatible but you must hold video games in low regard if you're willing to compare them to "working on a house".
Video games have the capability to be art and provide you with some of the best experiences of your life.

Here's a somewhat controversial/unpopular opinion, given the demographics of this forum: if many of the "older" folks (=people in their 30s) who are into retro gaming&game collecting who are relatively casual in their gaming habbits would go beyond their comfort zones, forget about "pick up and play" type of games for a while and open their eyes to different video game genres and styles that exist, the world would be a better place, these kinds of threads would be a lot more rare and video games as a medium would receive more of the respect that it rightfully deserves.
(this comment isn't directed at you dsheinem, nor am I implying that those type of retrogames are bad or that younger, modern day casual gamers weren't to blame just as much)
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

? WHAT? WHAT? Austin reference lol. what will I do? I will just play the games that I own, play them on my days off and just focus on the gym, karate and my family. that's all. And train, say my prayers, and take my vitamins BROTHER!!!!!!
I have 20 or so wii games, 4 n64 games, 20 ps2 games, a few psp games and and 60 dreamcast games. I mostly just have a lot of 2d fighters/arcade type shooters or collections for the dreamcast/ps2. I am playing super Mario bros for the wii. It is harder for me than smb for the nes. It's a great game. I just hooked up the 64 and played some wcw revenge. For me those aki wrestling games are just as fun now as it was in 1998. Miss wcw. I play the wrestling games for a few minutes during my work days when I come home and on my days off from work im on super Mario bros. That's all I need for a while. After I beat Mario I'm on to sonic colors.

Just came back from kempo and what I was going to do and just did was my two boys and I just took a test and earned our purple belts in kempo karate. Man I feel great and so proud of my boys.
