I was aware of that. But for me, it was Team Ninja who translated that plot into a more linear and combat heavy experience. Games have piss-poor stories all the time but here it was used as a leash on the Metroid experience. And at least in other games the cut-scenes can be skipped.Although Team Ninja were the main developers of this game, the plot was written by Nintendo. Team Ninja often get blamed for ruining Metroid with Other M's story, but they weren't the ones responsible for that.

Some around here hyped this one up pretty good for me and it delivered. Boy did it ever.

I'd say to really sum it up in a sense, this makes me think this is something Tetsuya Takahashi (Xenogears, Xeno's, etc) would have done if he wanted to make his own sci-fi Dragon Ball Z. Except he would surpass Toriyama's craziness and crank it up to SSJ9000. Battle and story wise, it doesn't get more over the top and bigger in scope than this... even anime wise, Gunbuster, Lagann, NGE, Ideon, etc, this... is perhaps another step even above those.
I went ahead and got the Episode IV DLC pack, going in knowing it was the real finale and yeah, you cannot skip this. Without a doubt one of the greatest final boss segments I've ever witnessed. Visually, it was utterly mindblowing.
Incredible music, incredible art direction and style, amazing characters, comedy, emotion, intensity, it's all there.
The gameplay is thin, but that's not exactly what you're going in for anyways, heh. Overall though I'd say I really enjoyed the on-rail shooting parts quite a lot.

Re: Games Beaten 2013
Let's add Uncharted: Drake's Fortune to the list. I was able to start and finish the game today and really enjoyed it. Having never gone through the Uncharted series, I felt like this would be a good place to start. It was a lot of fun, but very flawed. The jet ski scenes were a massive pain in the ass to control, not to mention the random QTEs that get thrown in out of the blue.
I want to say that I love Indiana Jones and it drove me insane that George Lucas really felt that there were no more macguffins for him to explore. I think Uncharted did a great job exploring a new and interesting legend. Being one of the early titles for the PS3, the game still looks great and runs well. I am gonna be starting up the second here tomorrow. We will see how that one goes!

The first time I played Uncharted, I HATED the water ski section, it was such a pain in the ass ... I replayed it the following year and had absolutely no issues, it was a cake-walk. It was a pretty strange experience.

Platinums/100% Achievements:
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack - Vita
Guacamelee - PSN (including all DLC trophies)
Shinovi Versus - Vita
Hotline Miami - PSN
*New* - Mark of the Ninja - 360
Games Beaten:
Dragon's Crown - True Ending
Got the true ending for Dragon's Crown after beating Infernal mode. I'm not quite as high on the game any more. It gets less and less fun and interesting the more time you invest in it. And yet, I've still sunk many hours into it. Thus is my addiction to beat 'em ups, even the just okay ones can still hook me for a long time. I'd probably rate Dragon's Crown a 7.0 now, still a decent game but not quite living up to the hype. There's just so many design choices I don't like. Plus, you quickly realize that the game is basically one long grind if you want to do any of the post game content, which basically just consists of replaying the same 9 levels a billion times before you're finally high enough level for the Labyrinth of Chaos, which is the game's only REAL post game content.
I also once again 100% finished Mark of the Ninja after getting all the new DLC achievements on the 360 version. The game is a joy to play.

I wasn't looking for any approval.
