FF XIV: A Realm Reborn

Post by KoLAddict »

Anyone playing/attempting to? SquareEnix has a stupid system where unless there's only a few people trying to get into their server when it's full, they'll wait in queue, otherwise it just says to try again later, forcing you to just repeatedly try to log in. Also, the NA/EU servers keep going down for maintenance without warning, whereas the JAP ones stay active.

Those MASSIVE issues aside (I've been playing since Saturday morning when I can and still have only put in a few hours because of all the downtime), the game itself is a lot of fun. It's got the Job system like FFXI meaning you can be any class with just one character, which for me is awesome because I like to try different classes. I'm having a lot of fun with it when I can play, just an issue doing so.

If anyone is interested, or does pick it up, you should join the Diablos server, where I am! Character name is Cadar Esgares (you pick a first and last name). Course you can only friend people when they are online (dafuq?), but it is a lot of fun...so far.
Huge RPG fan.

Posted in the Sony/MS thread for it, but yeah. On Leviathan with people from FFXI and such. When they can make characters, and are actually able to log in.

I mean, to be fair, most of the problems are due to high demand. But, there's a lack of planning there, particularly regarding getting friends on the same servers. It needed much more of an open beta than last weekend (when effectively the same things happened).

The game itself seems good - highly derivative, perhaps, but with quite a lot of throwbacks to other FF games, good graphics, music, etc.
