Atlus reprinting Rule of Rose on PS2

Post by Retrogamer0001 »

FINALLY!

Very happy indeed that I waited and didn't end up spending +80 on this game! Sealed copies will be retailing for only 19.99 on September 13th!

Dude thanks for posting this. I was going to bid on a $80 copy today. Where are they going to be selling it and is it a remaster for ps3?

Interesting timing... been glancing over PS2 horror stuff off and on again lately.

PS2 only, which is fine with me. Odin Sphere and Luminous Arc on DS are getting reprints also. Already pre-ordered myself a copy :)

Well I am glad others get a chance to play, it kind of sucks as a collector when your games are devalued.

Nice bit of news, thanks for posting. If this follows the same as in the Fatal Frame series and other PS2 reprints, the newer copies will have thinner paper. Not a big deal, if the game is all there, but a way to tell first run from later pressings.

Couldn't agree more, the best part of this story!

I couldn't be happier that this game is being reprinted (I love the horror genre in video games, and PS2 has a plethora of good ones) but it will be interesting to see what trend the re-releasing of rare games has on value a few years down the road. I still don't imagine hundreds of thousands of copies of this game are being printed, so it's possible that three or four years down the road the game will become rare again.

I love the fact that Atlus has been opting for physical releases of their games and not just PSN downloads. Kudos!

Right, when all those reprints self destruct as programmed.

The original print run of the game was only 15000...it's unlikely Atlus has printed more than 30000 new copies (random number I'm throwing out, somewhat reasonable considering the game isn't well known outside of the collecting crowd and is a PS2 game), so a game with only 45000 is still quite uncommon. They could easily only be printing 15000 again, for all we'll ever know.
