Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Seeing all the beautiful lists of Dreamcast games made me realize I haven't formally taken stock of what I own for the system. Being that it's my absolute favorite console by a long-shot, it's the only console that I've ever formally and actively collected for. My Saturn collection is very healthy as well, but I've found that "collecting" for any other console really just isn't my thing -- there are some Saturn gems I've paid entirely too much for and deeply enjoy, but I soon realized during my run through that console that game collecting is just too much of a leech on life for me. Still though, I deeply enjoy my robust selection of Dreamcast games.
I've owned a few other titles as well in the past, like Gunbird 2, EGG, and Evolution, but they were sold a while back. Really, this collection represents everything I could ever want to play for the console outside of a scant handful of rare titles that are incredible to play, but that I can't justify the price tags for. If I ever see Border Down, Puyo Puyo Fever, Under Defeat, Yu Suzuki Game Works, or Zero Gunner 2 for a remotely affordable price, I may consider getting them, but for now I'm just at a place in collecting that it doesn't bother me that much that I don't own official copies.

Is that Skies of Arcadia Limited Edition the Japanese "Eternal Arcadia" version, or is there a "Skies of..." Ltd Ed too?
Nice collection.

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Since we're posting lists, here's where I'm at.
Crazy Taxi
Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future
Evolution
Evolution 2
Grandia II
Namco Museum
NFL 2K
NHL 2K
Phantasy Star Online
Record of Lodoss War
Shenmue
Silver
Skies of Arcadia
Sonic Adventure
Sorcerian: Shichisei Mahou no Shito (JPN)
Time Stalkers
World Series Baseball 2K1
Not very impressive, but it's incredibly difficult to find Dreamcast games here in Maine.
E.G.G. and Phantasy Star Online ver. 2 are at the top of my wishlist.
Maybe after that I'll look into shmups and round out my 2K sports collection.

Quality over quantity though and there's some really quality titles in your list.BoneSnapDeez wrote: Not very impressive, but it's incredibly difficult to find Dreamcast games here in Maine.
Also some nice rare games in there like Silver, Time Stalkers and Evolution 2. I used to own Silver and Time Stalkers but sold them both for next to nothing back when the Dreamcast was still being sold. Silly me.
Own: Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, PS Vita, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii U, Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox, Xbox 360

Which brings me to another point. This is the third time I've had a DC and been adding games for the system. Both times in the past I sold my entire collection. Now I find myself looking for games I've already had in the past - and regretting selling them in the first place!...but sold them both for next to nothing back when the Dreamcast was still being sold. Silly me.

I know the feeling. I only did that once, but I had a decent collection. I traded in nearly all my Dreamcast games when the Gamecube came out and I wanted to save money on Gamecube games. Then a few years later I ended up selling my Gamecube and all the games in order to re-buy my Dreamcast gamesSpyke wrote:Which brings me to another point. Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
I finally own all the shmups officially released on the Dreamcast and most of the Homebrews. My favorite would probably have to be Giga Wing 1 and 2, it's just one of those games I can pop in whenever and just have a blast for a half hour or so. Is it the technically the greatest shmup ever? no but to me it's the most fun.

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Like a lot of people around here, I can easily say the Dreamcast is my favorite console, and I have a lot of fond memories about it. Jet Grind Radio is my favorite game on it, and just hearing that music takes me back! I always come in and out of playing the Dreamcast, but it is always hooked up and ready to go.
I just got back on a Dreamcast kick, jump started by the fact that I was able to get the Special Edition Hello Kitty console from a member here for a great price. It made me want to play some of those awesome games. I notice a lot of people mentioning E.G.G., and I recently was able to get it brand new Sealed in a trade, and when I am ready to play it, I will be cracking that baby open like its 2000 again!
As for the talk about going online, if you really want a unique experience, I suggest you figure out how to get your dreamcast online at least once. Booting up and getting into a lobby of PSO and chatting with people, and taking a full party to loot was amazing! It was an awesome experience that I wish I was able to take part in back in the day.
I used to play Quake 3 and Starlancer on Dial up about 8 years ago (it was still considered "dead" at this point) and I would play through the night, having a blast meeting up with the small dedicated group that played every night.

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Is Time Stalkers really that rare? I've seen more copies of it than any other DC game. It's usually under $10 too, if people are actually looking for it and it's hard to find elsewhere i'd be more than happy to snag the copies I find.Reprise wrote:Quality over quantity though and there's some really quality titles in your list.

The Capcom Shmups on the DC are pretty top notch. I've yet to find either of the Giga Wings, but i've played through the first one on MAME a million times. Can't wait to get the second one for some hot 4p action.ninjainspandex wrote:My favorite would probably have to be Giga Wing 1 and 2, it's just one of those games I can pop in whenever and just have a blast for a half hour or so. Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Time Stalkers better not ever become a rare/expensive game, its terrible! I picked it up back when you could get DC games at EB for a couple bucks each, and felt I over paid! I did a quick search and there are plenty of them on Ebay for $10 and under, so I dont think its about to become a collectable.SpoonyBard wrote:Is Time Stalkers really that rare?
