Yeah, that's the trade off. I love playing games on the Saturn, especially since I've gotten my hands on a S-Video cable for it.noiseredux wrote:yeah I've had both. I paid about $40 on Saturn, and it looks great and plays great w Saturn pad.
But PS1 version is fine, and has more modes and dirt cheap. You're good either way.

Great score Foxhound! I had the PS1 version briefly but didn't like it not having TATE so moved it on - specially as I had the PS2 conversion anyway.
I wonder if I'll see the last boss anytime soon...

A tiny improvement for me. I guess noticeable improvements get harder at this stage.

Had time to try another quick run today. It did put me slightly higher up in points. Now I'm just a hair shy of 3 million. That octopus boss just wipes me out when he throws enough inescapable bullet curtains to outnumber my bombs.
Good thing Dave apparently isn't trying to advance his score.

Nice job! There is actually a way out of that curtain by dodging it the same way you would dodge the orb-bullet spread he shoots out. You just have to make sure there isn't one of the other homing bullet patterns waiting in the escape area. (ie, just tap left or right once you see him shoot the curtain spread, and you should be able to dodge it (almost) every time.)Omerta wrote:That octopus boss just wipes me out when he throws enough inescapable bullet curtains to outnumber my bombs.

^ I'll have to study it a bit more once my one credit is shot. I get jumpy and launch a bomb when I'm staring down the wave. If I get some time to play it more before the month ends I'll see if I can put some better numbers up.
I've tried the "lightning only" strategy and the "grab everything and use what you get" strategy with mixed results. Again, I'll have to tinker some more and see what kind of numbers I get.

It looks impossible to dodge when he first launches that huge spread, but it parts open on either side of where you are when he shoots it, like how the two sets of four little bullets will move in a way that they just miss you on either side if you stay in the same spot. He's actually a trivially easy boss that only requires a little concentration at the start of the fight, and once his tentacles start shooting.

I'll probably see ya'll for Homura, if not then Giga Wing for sure.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
