It's the Atari era ones that are iffy for me. I listed games that I played A LOT.

I consider a fighting game "beaten" if completed.

So say we are talking about a Tekken game. It's "beaten" when you have beaten the game with every character, beaten every minigame, and have unlocked everything.

You can beat GTAIII without a 100% score, but saying "I beat Tekken" by beating the game once on very easy with one character doesn't count. At least to me.

And atari "loop" games don't count at all. That counts as playing a game, not beating it.

As far as fighting games go, I like to go with the most fundamental measure of beating it - did you fight and beat the final boss? If so, then technically yes, you did beat the game. However, if you want to complete a game, then you would have to unlock everything and beat it with every character.

Please god, I do not want to compile every game I have beaten in life....we are looking around the 500-700 range.

We decided long ago in those annual threads to let people count a game as "beaten" however the hell they like, because arguing about it is stupid and it's not a contest to see who has more.

I would guess a lot of people have their "lifetime beaten" lists basically done on Backloggery or some similar site. Perhaps links to those pages would make sense in this thread?

Anyone who can actually remember every game they've beaten, hasn't played enough games in his life

I trust what I have on Backloggery is accurate enough, anyone who's curious can browse that. 363 games beaten/completed!

I'd be lucky to remember maybe a 10th of what I have actually beaten.

Anything after about 2 years ago is pretty much wiped from memory if it isn't an annual-playthrough for me.

With just the games I own registered on my backloggery I have beaten 494 games. There are a good number of other games I either sold, borrowed from friends or played at a relatives house that I've beaten too that I wouldn't be able recall all of.

If anyones curious about games I've beaten, I have a backloggery link which lists a lot of them. Its just down the way!

Lifetime beaten games? How would anyone over the age of ~20 even come up with such a list unless they happen to track everything in a notepad as a kid? This would be easy for the modern youngsters that have had computers and emulators since their earliest memory.

I've recently changed from using backloggery religiously, to not really caring if I've beaten a game. With all the games I have, it was starting to feel like a chore to track and play through everything. Now I just play what I want, when I want, without caring if I am playing too many at once or if I have actually completed the games.
