Would you spend a significant amount of money, say over $300, for an item that you want strictly to add it to your collection?

And follow up for those who say no, would you do it if you had the money for it free and clear?
Well this is actually a question i'v been thinking about for a while. I'll just guess everyone knows about Earthbound here...

I never actually played the damn thing in my life. Just a week ago I got a SNES emu just to try it out. I'm really not far into it...but all ready it just seems like a normal RPG...not something worth what 300+?

But I would like to own it...just so I can say I own it lol. I don't own "rare" games...I think the only "rare" game I own is a chinese version of the first Kirby game on the GB. I looked it up and it's quite rare, more so when the label says "For China Only". I don't consider it rare though...idk why.

Back on topic...i'v been thinking about buying Earthbound only because I might be getting into some serious money soon. My Grandmother just passed away and my dad is splitting whatever money is left from paying off debts and after being split between her 4 children, between me, my half brother and himself. Originally it was going to be split between my half brother and me, but we're low on cash so he needs some of the money to pay off bills and to go into the food budget.

I don't expect a ton of money to come my way after all of that...but still enough that I can rest a little easier knowing it's in my bank account in case something happens. Depending on the amount of money I may or may not buy Earthbound or something else pricy and somewhat rare I would never even think about getting normally. Like if it's over...5,000 bucks..I'll most likely buy that one rare thing as a little treat. If it's under 5,000...I won't buy something that pricy...I might buy maybe...50 bucks worth of good games that i'v been wanting for a while.

The last thing I want to do is use that money to feed my addiction...which is why i'm limiting myself to one item or one set amount. But also...I should use the money on something that's useful and I would spend more time using it...like a new PC. This one is...getting on in years and is having some real heat issues so I think it's time is limited.

Thought 1: I'd really like it if I could get the game installs working on my 360. It seems the culprit is likely the hard drive. Will I get banned from Xbox Live if I just go over to Microcenter, buy a 120gb hard drive, and swap it into the HDD case? (I have already taken apart to try reseating the current one, fyi).

Thought 2: I would have thought, even with fat 360s, they would have quieted them down by 2009. This unit is a Jasper from April of 09. Has the loud Beta fans. I heard there are fans in some that are a bit quieter?

Random thought:

Rumble makes a huge difference in some video games. I don't think I would enjoy Tony Hawk's Underground nearly as much without it.

It is really weird to think about, but I completely agree. How strange is it that force feedback like basic rumble can really enhance an experience. I take it for granted most definitely, but I remember when I was a kid, having the rumble pak for StarFox 64 and being like, "This is Amazing!" When I have a game that doesn't have it, I wonder what is wrong.

I have a N64 rumble pak, but I almost never play with it. I feel like it weighs the controller down and enlarges it so much, and when I remove it, I feel so free.

I understand it. Back then, though, when the system came out, that was a real non-issue because there were no alternatives. Now, in modern game controller's, if such a large behemoth was attached, it would be cumbersome. Marvels of modern technology I always say!

And besides, wasn't the point of the rumble pak just an excuse to rest it on your junk?!

^ Oh christ...I remember reading about a really freaky Japanese game that came packaged with a vibe you could hook up to a console...I forget what console it was for. Or maybe it was the PC...idk...freaky Japanese.

PS2, special edition (JP only) of Rez.

The game was designed to almost be synesthasia, so they decided to not only have the normal aural and visual aspect, but to add a tactile aspect too.

Of course, the fact that that tactile aspect was an oblong smooth plastic thing that vibrated... well... yeah.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
