You are doing great kid (kid isn't meant as an insult), and you are learning a lot in this process. Being able to connect with people is essential in creating a professional (aka money making) business acumen.
Thanks

:D Almost beat Pikmin 3 and have enjoyed the crap out of it.

:( Key word is ALMOST. The ending is a test of attrition and very frustrating.

:D Finally got a job! I get to write sports summaries for the local newspaper. It's part-time, but I'll take it over Wal-Mart or McDonalds. Plus, it works around my school schedule quite nicely.

Smile: I've been friends with these guys for over a decade now.

Unfortunately a few years ago, after a show, two gang members broke into their tour bus and demanded everything, including the bus and the women in it. When a gun was pulled, my friend Scott pulled out his sidearm and shots were fired. Scott killed one of the robbers and shot the other crook, but in the exchange Scott received multiple shots as well.

He recovered like a champ, but due to death threats and a bullet or two into their house, they moved to Nashville. Which was a smart move (ho ho) as it has helped with their musical journey.

...and now they're coming back for a show, tonight.

Really looking forward to seeing the guys again and hanging out until the early morning. Not as fun hanging out with them now that I am married, but I'm out of that "phase" of life anyway.

Anyone near Eastern NC should go to the show.

Frown: I've been up since 5am on a Saturday working on resolving a problem with our ftp page. The data on it is all wonky.

edit* I was lucky enough to see Mike Tyson make nice with Tony Atlas on live tv last night. For those not in the know, Atlas made Tyson the fighter he was before don king basically destroyed the man.

No doubt that many boxing matches were and are rigged, but if you were a kid in the 80's you were glued to the TV anytime Tyson was fighting. He and Atlas did not speak for decades; decades. For Tyson to man up was a thing of beauty for anyone who was a former fan of Tyson, and the sweet science that is boxing.

My birthday is on monday, the first day of school, so we were gonna celebrate it today and then go swimming tomorrow. We were planning on going to the movies and I wanted to see Elysium (shhh) and my dad keeps saying about how it's about Liberals and Republicans and stupid stuff. It's a movie. I got pretty upset and when my dad asked why I yelled at him for saying how everything is about politics to him and we can hardly watch movies, tv etc. Day ruined.

Happy early Birthday.

If I ever talk(ed) back to my Father I doubt I would have a full functioning cardiovascular system.

Well, he was quiet because he knew I was right, he refuses to watch tons of shows and movies because of actors or due to something he saw on Fox.

edit: this day turned bad pretty quick, it's only twelve and when we argued it was ~11:30 and I had only been up for 45 minutes too.
double edit: thanks for the early birthday wish

So... about the concert last night (pack a lunch or grab a snack).

My friends played at the Winterville Watermelon festival aka the gathering of a thousand rednecks and one guy who stuck out like a turd in a punch bowl. Seriously, I had to be the only person besides the police there that wore a collared shirt and didn't constantly smoke. Although the "Rules" included no smoking, no pets, no drugs, and no kites (I'm not kidding the rules say no kites), nothing was enforced. People were lighting bowls right next to the cops, and the cops just stood around talking to each other.

Oh well. The constant smell of cheap cigarettes bothered me more than the pot smoke.

Moving on. The amount of rebel flags, shirts with the rebel flag on it, and even rebel flag shorts was overwhelming. Some of the shirts had phrases including but not limited to "White. Proud. Confederate.", "Southern Bitch", and my personal favorite "If you think this is hate, learn your Fuckin' History". Had I not been with my wife (and outnumbered 1,000 to one) I would have loved to walk up to the "history" guy and ask "Can you name me three confederate generals, and also spell their names?".

It felt like I was on a different planet. People spitting left an right, Mothers telling their kids to "Move the fuck along", and there was also vomiting. Trailer trash heaven I was in.

My wife and I sat about eighty rows back from the stage, but we had no intention of getting good seats. But, I wanted to make sure the guys knew I showed up so after a few songs I made my way through the sea of people. And then I got a bit of luck.

There was a huge dude in a motorized wheel chair who was also trying to get close to the stage. "Back! Back! Please let the man through!" I repeatedly shouted without question, and in just minutes we both were at the front row. Hey, I helped the guy out and it made it super easy for me to navigate through tons of seats and people.

So after the disabled duder thanked me, I shouted "Yo Barry!". He smiled, pointed at me and mouthed "Luke!". I pointed back and then returned to my seat. And that was that. Hung out in the tour bus (which was a big upgrade from their last one) for an hour or so and then called it a night as the groupies (all wearing the shortest of shorts and cowboy boots) started to pour in.

We had great parking, got to see the guys again, so all in all it was a good time.

Oh! My friend Heather placed 3rd in the Watermelon eating contest, and my buddy Bruce placed as "contestant" :) It's hilarious to watch Bruce "compete" as the guy takes small bites and chews for a while on purpose. Everyone else is basically smearing their face over the melon, landing more melon on the ground than in their mouth, and then there is Bruce taking dainty bites. If he entered the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest his total count would be one hotdog, and I think that would be brilliantly hilarious.

Smile: Visited with friends and got the final things left to move in.

Frown: 360 bit the dust. Man are these things volatile or what?
