Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

My local Gamestop does one better. This is more of a an observation than anything else. If they see a younger child (11>) buying a M rated game they first tell the parent the game is meant for 17+. Then after the parent has acknowledged that (most parents of gamers have a general idea of a what M rated games contain) they then, w/ out request, read the specific details of why it's rated M. I know I might be blowing this out of proportion but this damn technique lost me a bunch of games when I was younger like RDR and Resistance FOM.

My first "Adults Only" purchase was with Guns n' Roses Use Your Illusion II at Tape World.

Told the clerk "My Mom is right outside of the store" and I was able to buy it. Trying to get a Playboy at Waldenbooks is a different story.

You were lucky. I remember when I was 14, trying to replace my broken copy of Diablo 2 and not a single cashier in Wal*Mart would go for that story.


I was able to go to the On Cue across the parking lot and pick it up with no hassle, but that's not the point!

I lost my virginity four years before I "read" a Playboy.

Wait...No, that's about right. I had hidden Playboys in Gamepro magazines since the 6th grade at Waldenbooks, but never owned a Playboy until I was 18.

My friends and I would take a Gamepro, jump and grab a Playboy (sometimes unsuccessfully) and slide it in the Gamepro for viewing. We were desperate to see boobs at that age.

So yeah. Um Game Stop.

I'm 17, dude. My Gamestop still does this but I'm talking about back when I was in 6th-8th grade. My local shop will sell M rated games to me. I thought It was against the law to sell M rated games to minors?
