Why is it so ridiculous though?

"To whom it may concern,

My party had filed a class action lawsuit against GME, aka Game Stop, for selling items labeled as Mature to Juveniles. The products have been labeled by the ESRB to only be suitable for adults eighteen years and over, and the games sold have had negative consequences both mentally and physically. We are seeking Ten Million in damages, spread across four thousand complaints. We are willing to negotiate a settlement for Eight Million in damages if you so comply".

See?

Gamestop is only covering their butt, which you need to do in a society that sues over coffee being hot.

I think it becomes ridiculous when employees have to ask people that are clearly grown adults for their ID to buy a video game. It's just procedural nonsense at that point. Both parties know it is a pointless formality. I'm sure it is awkward/irritating for the employee, too. I know I would become annoyed if I was forced to ask for the ID of everyone from 15 to 80.

If you get carded, you should take it as a compliment, especially if you're like me and over 30. Not that I've been carded in over 10 years, but whatever. ;)

I'm starting to think we've just run out of things to complain about.

Some stores smell funny and have old bubble gun on their carpet. Plus not enough managers have a full grown mustache. There is plenty to complain about.

There's a movie theater by me that's 21 and over (because they have a full bar inside), and they card EVERYONE. I even get thanked by the employee in the box because I'm one of the few people who can read the sign that says "We card everyone" and give them my ID without prompting.

the only way that will ever change is if you take a stand and just walk away and don't enjoy the movie or the booze when they ask for your ID.
