There are other forms of competitive gaming like speed runs.. Or trying to kill the first boss in massive multiplayer online games.. BUt those three genre's get the most attention in competitive gaming for a reason and a good one...

Oh yeah, there's the speedrun world records. Though the difference between that and world first MMORPG kills is that MMO guilds are usually sponsored.
The problem with both of those examples is that you're competing against the game, and not against another player, so I wouldn't really group them in same category as those other games

My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

That's true... I would say a racing game or other various genres, but we all know those 3 types are the main ones...

Racing and Sports games. Not exactly genres that have Evo equivalents or super big stages, but a lot of people will hustle and play for money in those genres.Menegrothx wrote:Unless I'm missing something, those are the only genres that are played competitively
There's WoW arena (MMORPG), but I can't think of any other games that are played professionally (I count MOBA in the RTS group in this case)

There were a lot of UFC Undisputed tournaments when that game first came out. Kinda jelly I didn't have a console to play that on though.
