It is my understanding that the first game is the uncensored Japanese arcade game, 2 and 3 were only released on the Genesis, so obviously they are Genesis ports.

The main game itself (The 2010 remake) is painfully repetitive as it goes on.

Thanks. I'm more interested in the originals anyway, so four games in total for ten smackers isn't bad.

Do you know if there is any easy way to tell? I see in some screenshots that the Arcade version has a gradient fill for the scorebar, am I right in thinking this is not present in the console ports?

I have the game and a save file with the games unlocked so I can give it a look over.

Hyperstone was, like Golden Axe, an arcade game at home, so I loved it. I think you could argue that TMNT 3 on the NES was a better game, and I wouldn't disagree with you, but I like Hype.

As far as I know, no. The only reason I played on Hard was because on the SNES port of Turtles in Time, you were chastised by Splinter for not playing on Hard (a Konami thing), and you got the better ending there.

Here is what went down at the end -

Shredder defeated, falls off platform, drops 3 stones which I assume is the pieces of the Hyperstone, New York is restored and we get the credit roll.

I love TMNT 3. No arguments. For an original Turtles title, it was very high quality. LONG too, much more fun.

I really hate to disagree, but maybe if I played it "in the moment" that is, when the game came out, I probably would have liked it. Maybe I'm a bit too jaded. I could not stand that boss rush stage. That's out of place in this series. Imagine having to continue that a few times and it would start you over each and every time. Keep in mind, I played this on the HARD difficulty. Maybe if it was a bit easier, I'd have more fun?

I love Hyperstone Heist, and I've only played it within the last year or so since acquiring it. I played it on my Nomad, so I can imagine I would enjoy it all the more, playing it on the Genesis. It resembles Turtles in Time just enough, while being a largely different game. It probably bears mentioning that I played the arcade version of Turtles in Time every chance I could as a kid, and it was my favorite arcade game, growing up. I've never felt like wasting my time with the SNES version, though.

Just completed Pikmin 3 on the WiiU and have to say, I really enjoyed it. This game is very much out of my comfort zone, as I have never played any of the other games in the series and it is very similar to a traditional RTS. This very much reminds me of what Warcraft III was originally going to be like, having a hero with a team of units wander out and do missions. With the ability to set up three different teams in Pikmin 3, there is a lot of micromanagement that can be done. I opted for the slower path, however and just controller one team at a time. I could not handle jumping back and forth like mad.

The game was very challenging. Clocking in about 15 hours to finish the campaign, about average to other players via the leaderboard and have to say that I got my money's worth. Let me say that the game is incredibly beautiful.

Graphically, this is one of the most impressive games I've seen in a while. It is those little things like universal lighting on everything, including the 100 units you control on screen at once. Not to mention the really awesome camera feature, giving you an on the ground view of your surroundings that feels like a very real camera. What is in focus, what is not, lighting, using a flash or not all give it a sense of reality, not to mention a frame of reference as to how small your characters really are in this enormous world.

This camera feature probably is one of the most fun and interesting ideas in the game. I could spend hours just exploring and taking pictures of the huge, horrifying bosses, of the picturesque landscape and so much more. You control the camera with the gamepad, moving around in a full 360 panorama, something I never get tired of with the WiiU. It is very very immerse.

I can not stress enough that people who own a WiiU and are looking for a fun, challenging experience, try Pikmin 3.

You getting Wonderful 101? Seems to be a similar genre.

* = replay

Been a fan of Onimusha 2-4 for a long time now (I haven't replayed them though, hitting up Onimusha 2 again now). But I never did get around to the first game until now. What to say... was this originally in development for the PSX? If you like the classic RE trilogy, Dino Crisis, and Capcom of that time, you'll probably dig Onimusha like I did. Even down to the game stuttering during camera angle changes or action in cutscenes, with a hilarious dub, this was by the book PSX Capcom stuff haha.

Only took about 4 hours, but it's dirt cheap nowadays so that's not bad. The weapon variety wasn't that great and I didn't like the segments playing the chick, but yeah. The game had really good music. Overall, was worth running through finally for once to see it for myself. I still don't know why, but I just love fixed camera angle / pre-rendered backdrop styled games like this, so yeah I had fun with it despite being bare bones in some areas.

Onimusha 2 was my favorite of the three I played. Not sure if I'll replay 3 and Dawn of Dreams next, but I might check out Genji or other action games on the PS2 I haven't tried yet. Definitely in the mood for this stuff lately.

Definitely gonna be getting Wonderful 101. After playing the demo though, it is in no way like Pikmin at all. It is much more like Bayonetta or Devil May Cry, which is a good thing! I am very very excited to play it!

I had the original Onimusha back in the day and really liked it. Clearing the underworld was about the pinnacle of my gaming achievements at the time. I could never get into the second one (last thing I remember about is was I giant spider, maybe) and I think I had actually bought 3, but never even bothered with it for more than a few minutes. I just finished the original Resident Evil for the first time, and maybe I shouldn't have been, but I was kind of surprised by how much playing RE reminded me of playing the original Onimusha. I don't think the VO in Onimusha is anywhere near as classy as the stuff in Resident Evil, though.
