What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Oh you guys.

Forlorn, don't forget that Luke (correctly) subscribes to the school of thought that people make snap judgments of you based on your appearance. If you don't want people to think of you as a "thug", then you shouldn't dress like a stereotypical "thug". Or that guy dressed in leather with a big Mohawk. He might be the sweetest man in the world who feeds stray kittens and volunteers at the nursing home. But in the 10 seconds of interaction you have with him in the convenience store he appears to be a scary biker who might rob the place if he gets the urge.

*starts worrying about being a tall white guy with bond hair, blue eyes, short or shaven hair most of the time, and doesn't have red laces in any of his pairs of combat boots*

What's funny about this in regard to Luke is that I never trust a guy in a suit.MrPopo wrote:Forlorn, don't forget that Luke (correctly) subscribes to the school of thought that people make snap judgments of you based on your appearance.

But yo, when a guy has the blood symbol (not true blood mind you) plus tear tattoos, plus others...you'd have to be an idiot not to think they are a blood. The bandana placement was only the cherry on the sundae. This isn't "He's black and his acumen in ghetto speak is top notch, so he must be a thug", the duder was a thug.
I mean seriously, you guys sound dumber than a bag of dumb rocks for thinking otherwise. Not a bag of hematite rocks, dumb rocks.

Being politically correct is more important than trusting those primal survival instincts and statistics you know. That pitbull could be just as harmless as any old Chihuahua, even if they statistically speaking kill humans way more often.
Gangs are a way to be noticed in the boxy suburbs (and a myth put out by the liberal elite to patronize hard working Americans)

Frown: Cubs lose on a double play in the bottom of the 13th inning.

Your original post included NONE of this information. You just mentioned that he swore, spoke funny, had a bandanna, a cheap cigarette, tattoos, and was driving an old car with nice rims in that "area of the city". None of that = thug or gang member.Luke wrote: But yo, when a guy has the blood symbol (not true blood mind you) plus tear tattoos, plus others...you'd have to be an idiot not to think they are a blood. Given your new description, your conclusion that he was in a gang (and thus a "thug") seems to be a bit more reasonable.

We never saw the guy, so how could we be dumb for questioning anything you said? And now you mention blood tattoos? Well there is no direct Blood tattoos, unless he had a tattoo of "BLOOD" or the picture of the gang sign imitated with hands.. And tear tattoos are more symbolic of prison gangs, or are just general tattoos representing actions done to you or done.. It has no direct association with Bloods. He could be a petty criminal and not just a gang member for all we know.
