The Wonderful 101

Post by Reprise »

So who's got it and what do you think? It comes out tomorrow in Europe, but I pre-ordered it and it arrived a day early.

Just loading it up now :D

Here's what I said about the demo:

Doesn't land in the States for another month, but I did get to try out the demo at last year's PAX. The little I played was pretty fun, and I thought it made good use of the controller.

I was surprised in the demo how hard it was to 'draw'.

You do get used to it, but it is pretty fiddly, I agree. However, it is incredibly easy and intuitive to draw using the touchscreen. The only problem with that is though, is you have to take your eye off the screen, meaning using the right stick is unfortunately the best way to go.

Man, this is really annoying. I can't seem to do the gun power up thing. I could do it in the demo, but I can't do it on the full game. Maybe it's something you get later in the full game...

Edit: Never mind, you get it later. Got it now :P

I didn't have any problems. At first I looked down at the screen when I was drawing but that was a little distracting. I actually found it easiest to draw but keep your eyes on the TV. You can still see the shape form that way while still being able to dodge and block as needed.

Three more weeks until I get to play the full game, I'm ready!

Yeah, now I'm more into the game, I'm finding it easier to draw. I take back what I said before about using the right stick, I find myself using the touchscreen more (although sometimes it's easier to use the right stick too).

According to sales charts, the game is doing fairly poorly, even in Japan.

Have to wait and see what the sales figures are like for the States, since it was really aimed at Westerners, despite being so 'Japanese'.

I don't think they were expecting it to do much since they only shipped 30k copies. Seems fun and looks interesting so it seems like a shame to me.

It's a niche game on a console many are claiming to be dead before it begun. Are we surprised?
