I got the physical release in the mail today. If you don't open the thing it's easy to fool yourself into feeling like you got a full, retail release

Personally, I just love having it for my shelf - disc or no disc. It's pretty much a standard PS3 case like you'd get for any game. It looks nice

I tell you what though, having one of those press kit gold cartridges would be sweet

That's pretty lame.

Are they going to sell them in stores like that?

So we've got some companies making gimped cases with holes in them so they don't fully protect the disc, then we've got others using disc cases when there isn't even a disc. :?

If you go to wal-mart, you can pre-order upcoming blu rays... buy buying a blank case that is just there to take up space and advertise a preorder.

I DON'T GET IT

I purchased the retail version as well and all I can do is constantly wonder why they couldn't have put the damn game on a disc. They went through all of the trouble to design the cover art, get the packaging mass produced, and the product shipped to retail stores.

*sigh*

that's what I'm saying. It's really baffling to me.

On the same note, you guys know Terraria just came out this month for 360/PS3? So both versions come in this really nice boxed set, with a little USB stick for saves (I guess) and nice book and feelies. The 360 version comes on a disc. The PS3 version comes w/ a download code. What? The? Fuuu? Why on EARTH did they go through the trouble of making a physical BOX SET for a game and then not include THE GAME in the box set??????? At least in that instance you have the choice of buying the physical game on 360. But... yeah. Some publishers are pretty confused about this Physical Vs. Digital thing.

Im with the camp that would prefer more 'retro-styled' new games like MM9+10. I played the Ducktales HD the other day at a friends house, and all of the added stuff (Thats right-added stuff, its not a direct HD upgrade, they have added a ton of crap to it) just feels...out of place. The cutscenes get real old, real fast. The first level (a totally new level) is just a hand holding 'how to play' level that drags on for way too long. I was excited about the game, but after playing it, I realize I'd rather just be playing the original.
