Hardest Shmup?
Re: Hardest Shmup?
Yes, i know what a Bullet-Hell game is, but what im asking is, is the hardest Shmup different than the hardest Bullet-Hell game?

My first thought would be EspRaDe. I remember that game giving me fits in the past.

Re: Hardest Shmup?
uh, I guess it would depend who's playing. Like I said earlier, I love bullet hell stuff and find that genre really comforting. But stuff like Gradius IV makes me rip my hair out and quit during Stage 1. BoneSnapDeez is maybe totally opposite me. Who's to say which is truly "harder"?Hazerd wrote:Yes, i know what a Bullet-Hell game is, but what im asking is, is the hardest Shmup different than the hardest Bullet-Hell game?

The Espgaluda games have a lot going on as well.
I'm on the camp of the 90's era shmups. Stuff like Raiden, Raiden Fighters, DDP, Garegga, Shienryu, and stuff like that seem to be more in my wheelhouse.

Slow, difficult, strong enemies even with powerups, getting to Stage 2 without having to continue is a major feat.foxhound1022 wrote:I seem to have trouble with this also. The pace of it just seems kinda slow, and your ship seems to move waaay slower than all the other shit going on.

Yes, this is one of the few games that I get honestly frustrated with.ExedExes wrote:Slow, difficult, strong enemies even with powerups, getting to Stage 2 without having to continue is a major feat.foxhound1022 wrote:I seem to have trouble with this also. Now that you've brought it up, I'm probably gonna punish myself and try it again this week.

Well, played some Last Resort earlier. Got to the 2nd boss before I died out.
This game seriously pisses me off.
