Kane & Lynch Soundtrack

Post by NathanBarnatt »

Has anyone played Kane and Lynch? Have you noticed that the soundtrack sounds a lot like Fight Clubs? Do you know if it's downloadable or buyable? I'm into it.

Some of the tracks are there. Every soundtrack he does is amazing. Too bad he sometimes gets locked in with games that turn out to be shit. It's actually one of the only Kyd albums I dont have, though I haven't really looked for it. Post a link if you find it.

Edit: Found it. No official soundtrack was released, apparently.

Notes on this rip:
God damn, hard rip. Game use a crap multichannel stream system with layers, up to 6, all headerless. Game use also a 5.0 DD Stream. Means a center channel, two front stereo channels and two surround channels. Two tracks use this 5.0 stream system and it is not easy to mix these tracks.
Simple why: The output can be only a stereo track, means a left and a right channel but what do you do with the mono center channel?. If you mix this channel as stereo to the others then this channel will be to powerfull. A way would be to reduce the volume of this channel but i worked with a other way:

1. Splitt the channels.
2. Upmixed the channels to a full 5.0 DD Ac3 (640kb)track
3. Converted this track with VLC client to a 5 channel wav WITHOUT INTERLEAVING
4. Downmixed this UNINTERLEAVED track to a stereo ogg track

YEAH I KNOW i lose quality therefore i added the original ac3 tracks (only two) also to the package for freaks which have a DD sound system. (Dont forget the Ac3 codec )

Further the score has a low sample rate -> 32000hz .This was given by the game. And this score is a industrial/electronic score, therefore dont await
crystal clear sounds. The gamemusic has a very low volume in the game so you dont hear exactly which quality this music has but the problem is the low sample rate, so dont await wonders when you hear this score with a high volume.

To the layers: All layers are splitted to extra tracks and there is a full mixed version .

If you want then you can mix these layers self, ask me i have still the original files.

Awesome. Thanks! Know of any other games with similar music? Fight Club/Dust Brothers style.

I actually don't think this sounds like Fight Club, but I do love that OST also. Um, like I said, you can't go wrong with Kyd's modern stuff. Portions of the following games also sound like that: Oni, Half-Life 1 and 2, Quake 1 and 2, Shogo, and Vampire - The Masquerade Bloodlines.

The strongest recommendation would be Splinter Cell 3 Chaos Theory.

I haven't heard Kane and Lynch's sound track but Jesper Kyd has done almost all if not all of the Hitman series music, which were pretty good.

I've followed him since Sub-Terrania on the Genesis. Which was pretty much his first commercial game work.

Really? The Kanes Family Portrait song is like the same style as the Dust Brothers. Might be just me though. I'll check out Splinter Cell.

I liked Kesshin's song Resonance in Chaos Theory. Adventures of Batman & Robin, Red Zone and Subterrania all had rad music.. haven't played much of those other games though.
