"Pseudo-sequels", spin-offs, loosely-connected games, etc...

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

I just read that yesterday myself. And I had never heard of Dragon's Crystal. Were you by chance also browsing the list of GG games available on 3DS VC?

Nah I reading about roguelikes. 8)

I had heard of Dragon Crystal, played it even (briefly - on an emulator) but had no idea the two games were connected.

What's funny is that if you look at release dates it appears backwards - Dragon Crystal was actual released first! This is because Fatal Labyrinth was previously an online (Sega Net Work System) only game that eventually was released as a physical cart later on.

was not aware of that either. But I did have FL back when it came out, and thought it was super fun. Of course I had no idea what a roguelike was back then. I just knew it was kind of like an RPG but drawing a map didn't seem to do me any good.

EDIT: Note to self... suggest Fatal Labyrinth for TR 2014...

Speaking of GG games, I don't think anyone mentioned Beyond Oasis (GEN), Defender of Oasis (GG), and Legend of Oasis (SAT) yet.

From everything I've read, Defenders of Oasis isn't in the same series at all.

It's related (perhaps only) by localization I believe.

I was just going to post that link. Yeah, sorry. I didn't mean to say it was directly a sequel to the others, rather "loosely-connected" due to the naming during localization.

Two reasonably obvious ones but both Black Belt for master system and Last Battle on the Mega Drive/genesis are Hokuto no Ken games reskinned and with the gore cut out.

A "trilogy" I recently read about in an old issue of Nintendo Power.

Solstice: The Quest for the Staff of Demnos (NES)
Altered Space: A 3-D Alien Adventure (Game Boy)
Equinox (SNES)
