How long do you wait?
So i just picked up a 80 gig ps3 off of ebay. At this same exact time i picked up a copy of gigawing 2...from japan of course. Well the copy of GW2 is sitting in chesterfield VA this morning *where i live* waiting to be shipped. The ps3...well, ive hardly heard from the guy on friday i got an email saying i should have it shipped before monday, and ill email you then with a tracking number. Well...ive yet to hear anything, and i sent him an email saying hey please email me cause i will be working out of town 2 days next week, i need to make sure i have someone here, let me know when you ship it.
I won both of these auctions on the 23rd i believe, maybe EARLY morning on the 24th. So my question is, how long do you guys wait before you file a claim. Keep in mind the kind of money we are talking about, also keep in mind....my copy of GW2 FROM JAPAN...is already in my city.
So when would you file a claim? whats your timeline?
Im guessing he has a until Wed of this week maybe? Anyway whats your opinion.

Wait, you mean like the 24th of this month? So, Friday? Did you pay immediately? Keep in mind, bank transactions, especially around the weekends, can get pretty sluggish, so it may not clear until Monday. Even after it clears, it can take a seller a few days to get everything together. Wednesday's a bit early to be filing a claim. Honestly, two weeks without any kind of notification is my cutoff point. Give him a day or two to reply to your email and then send another. It'll also look better if you've been doing that if you have to file a claim.

Yeah, I'd hold off for a while on a claim. Try to contact the seller. If you get no response in a week or so, then you can contact Ebay.

Re: How long do you wait?
Yes it was friday, and actually payment was instant sense i have a paypal credit account.
Im trying to keep a cool head about it, but damn....a game from japan is here but i cant really get this guy to email me back? Just seems kinda...bad lol. If i was atleast getting emails back responding to my questions id be content, granted if i was getting emails and it was 2 weeks and STILL nothing, id STILL file a claim. But i feel like some emails being sent isnt asking for to much.
So you guys say give him atleast a week? Try to email every 2 or 3 days?

I would, dude. You've gotta remember, not everyone who's selling on ebay is actually making a business out of it. They may have other things going on.
I sell stuff on there and sometimes I may go days without checking my email. So I try to give peolpe the benefit of the doubt.

Re: How long do you wait?
The general rule of thumb for me at least is I try to contact the person if I haven't heard anything from them after 5 days.
I don't ever file a claim until at least 2 weeks have passed. (You have up to 45 days to file a claim with PayPal, in which you the buyer almost always wins)
Plus take into account where the item is being shipped from and by what method. If it's being shipped Parcel Post that can take at least 7 days, plus it's only been three days. You're definitely getting way more upset about this than you should. Granted its a lot of money but the guy has already contacted you once, and I'm guessing you'll probably hear from him soon.
Just take a deep breathe and relax.

Re: How long do you wait?
Yeah i kinda figured im just twitching around due to the fact of how much money it is/was and the fact ive been burnt before.
But as far as location, im in VA he is in NY. So shipping shouldnt be horrible, i guess my thing is i wish i was better communication. But agian more than likly its not his job selling stuff, or full time anyway, just need to relax.
I guess i was wondering if any of you ever snap like me

Re: How long do you wait?
There is lots of waiting to be had with transactions on eBay. I work in the evenings, so I can send something out to a buyer if the auction ends around or before noon that day, and they are usually pretty pleased to get their item on Wednesday if they won it on Monday. A lot of the domestic transactions I receive take a weeks or so, especially if it is larger, like your PS3.
I won Raiden IV on October 19th, and I'm not terribly worried about receiving it until later this week or early next... it is coming registered e-mail from Hong Kong after all. Shipping is done in 3 or so days, and then it takes another two weeks to arrive.

Re: How long do you wait?
You can't even FILE a claim yet, it's way too early. If you tried, it would specifically tell you how long you have to wait before you can file a claim. I would say give it another week before you escalate things. The post office is slow, and especially with a big heavy console. I wouldn't be surprised if the seller sent it Parcel Post, but regardless, there's nothing you can do about it right now anyway.
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games
