I like that she's not afraid of looking really, really, really stupid. That's super hot.

How does she look different than any other cos-player? (Legitimate question. I don't know the ins and outs here.)

I think the implication is that dressing as a My Little Pony (I am guessing), is worse than dressing as something else.

Have you been to a con? Very few costumes look that nice and very few people look that good wearing one.

I did not realize that until you mentioned it...but I guess she is, in fact, Rainbow Dash...(We won't let her watch the show, but my four-year-old daughter has been in love with My Little Pony toys ever since she "inherited" my wife's collection of vintage ponies. It is really cute.)

Cosplay can get super complicated super fast. Some people do amazing jobs, some people slap it together. One is not necessarily better, it is all about the fun that person is having. But most everyone in that world forgets that it is all about fun. Case in point, I have some friends in Britain that bought Stormtrooper outfits from this guy:
http://www.originalstormtrooper.com/
Who got kicked out of a con by the 501st for not having accurate costumes (and for not being part of the 501st). When they explained that they were original costumes, it did not matter (they did have ANH armor which has blue lines instead of black).

To end on a better note, a good friend of my wife's who passed away a couple years ago did a very impressive 10th Doctor Dr Who Cosplay. It helped that he looked almost identical to David Tennant. He would often get stopped when out doing anything by kids asking for photos with the Doctor. He would tell them that he is not the Doctor and often the kids would reply "ofcourse you would say that" so he started to carry one of his sonic screwdrivers with him at all times. Sadly he passed away due to stomach issues, but he was the best person I could think of that you could have had as a cosplayer.
