How often do they post new characters on the roster?

Well gamescom is coming up. Maybe we'll get some new info there?

Really surprised that they put in megaman but not Ryu from street fighter. Seems like he would be a no brainer.

MegaMan was asked for more, so it's a no brainer.

And yet we got the villiger from animal crossing and the wii fit trainer, how many people asked for that...SamuraiMegas wrote:MegaMan was asked for more, so it's a no brainer.

Mega Man is a much better fit. Ryu is just one playable character in a fighting game series whereas Mega Man is Capcom's most recognizable character, especially to Nintendo fans.

Wii Fit Trainer and Animal Crossing villager are genius additions.
Ryu? I think he's in enough fighting games and crossovers by now.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS Discussion
Ryu would be a poor choice and here is why. He is incredibly predictable. What does he bring to the table? His up-special is the dragon punch. Standing special, hadoken, down special hurricane kick. The effects of those moves are the same for many of the other characters in the game.
Why Villager is a good fit is, because of how much you DON'T think he will work. They had to add unique and interesting features to make him fit properly, features that make the game more diverse and stand out.
With Megaman, it is the same idea. There is a lot of potential in the way you can implement this character to make him feel distinctly different than the other characters. This was why I loved a lot of the characters in Brawl, that diversity. Snake felt so drastically different than any of the other characters and it wasn't just him.
They need to make the roster the right size with the right amount of distinctive difference between characters.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS Discussion
Yeah, I don't think Ryu would translate well at all. Because Smash Bros has no "Street Fighter-like" combos, and the characters are usually more unique than a basic fighter, he would either be really simple and boring or very spammy.
