:) 2/3 of the way through my Java project.

:? I've been waking up at 5 am to work on it (so I can get some done before Baby Bone gets up). It's starting to take its toll on me.

I'm not going the Retrodude route and tell you to lower your expectations. True Blood is stupid, plain and simple. But sometimes when you throw in the right friends in the mix, it can be pretty hilarious.
This idea is what I used to preach to customers when I worked in retail at a video rental store. There are group movies and alone movies. Some films just end up being bad when watched by a lot of friends, because people can get uncomfortable and start to riff on the film, destroying its value. Other times, having those friends for a film worth riffing over intensifies the experience. You don't watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show alone do you? NO! You go out to the theaters in droves with your scantily-clad friends and wreak havoc!

A friend of mine held a LOST party for the finale and it completely ruined the experience. People didn't get it, jokes were made and the mob mentality struck. Watch it by yourself and it is almost infinitely better.

Yup. Yup, yup, yup.

I have a friend who made PAUL BLART MALL COP hilarious. I wouldn't watch SCHINDLER'S LIST with the guy, but he has perfect timing and quips for terrible movies.

But, newegg accepted my RMA request, so I RMA'ed to to them. Hopefully they will send me out a new CPU or fix the one I sent them (If it can be... it was pretty bad  ).

If you're curious as to what I bought, its an AMD FX-6300 @3.5 with turbo boost to 4.1.
Not bad. Running an 8350 myself and I'm pretty happy with it.

Newegg can be funny sometimes. They might exchange it or they might say you damaged it so you don't get a new one.

@Kit-
Well, your situation is definitely different, that I can understand. The whole "but it's family thing" doesn't get thrown around much in my family, especially not for things that small. If someone brings up "but we're blood" in our family, its either life and death or very near.

 I waited too long on my summer project for AP English, and this last week before school starts is going to really kick my ass. Gotta read two more books, write a paper, make book cards (little study type things we never use but are forced to make), and do terms.

The idea of "AP" classes makes me laugh. They don't mean squat when it comes to applying to colleges, and I knew kids who had a GPA of 2.0 who attended "AP" classes. AP is bullsnot.

At least where I went to school.

:( The radiator in my 2003 ML350 is busted necessitating a $1000 repair. With this repair, I have poured nearly $3500 into the car this year, and I am absolutely sick of it. I am thinking of selling it or trading it, and then using the funds to off set the cost of a reliable late model sedan. (Since my wife upgraded from a 1997 Subaru Outback to a 2009 Toyota Highlander earlier this year, we no longer need my car as the "truck".)

I know that there are some people on here that are very knowledgable about cars...Do you have any suggestions? I am looking for a reliable car with enough space to hold my family (i.e., with four doors). Looks and speed are only a bonus at this point in my life, unfortunately...

I have a friend who worked in the admissions offices of an elite university, and according to her, AP/IB classes are basically a requirement for attendance if you attended a public or non-elite private high school. Accordingly, if you are seeking admission to a elite university, then I would highly recommend taking as many AP/IB classes as possible. Likewise, if you hope to earn an academic scholarship, I would also take as many AP/IB classes as possible, and do your very best on the PSAT so that you qualify as a National Merit Scholar. If you have a solid GPA, AP/IB classes on your transcript, good standardized test scores, at least one academic distinctions, and a few extracurricular activities, colleges will be falling all over themselves to admit you.

(It does sound like I had a very different experience from Luke, however. In my high school, you had to "qualify" for AP classes, and you would not have been allowed into them with a 2.0 GPA.)

When faced with a similar scenario recently, we went with a Civic.

Thanks for the recommendation. That is one that I am considering. What pushed it over the top for you?
